You are fine. You have swelling and fluids from surgery keeping your weight up. After about a week those fluids will start to dissipate and the weight will come off. Keep sipping Water and broth, keep walking and give it time.

Thank you for the encouragement.

Exactly what he said. You're taking in maybe 400-450 calories a day. It WILL come off. They pump you absolutely chock full of fluids and gas and it takes a while to pee and burp it all out. Honestly half the reason to take time off work is so your coworkers don't have to deal with your disgusting personal noises!

Just keep doing what you're doing and only weigh in once a week.

Tony B - NJ... congrats on reaching the halfway point!! (I looked at your ticker.)

Do you feel like you have enough energy to go back to work? My sleeve is 10/11 and I’m just planning on taking a week off and then half days the 2nd week - also work from home. I’m worried that I won’t have enough energy. Good luck with going back next week. Let me know

Yes, I have a lot of energy. I’m going a little stir-crazy already, and I’m only on day 5. I ended up taking 3 days off, and I’m going back at least half-days tomorrow.

That’s wonderful! I hope to recover as quickly.

Also very discouraged. in 4th week, following plan completely, only 7 pounds lost since surgery. Started at 288. Did lose 15 before surgery. It is not working for me. I get the 60 Protein grams, reluctantly drink the hated 68 oz of Water, and do not exceed 600 cals, mostly I'm below 500. Very sad.

Hey Kenda,

I really hope you went through with it! Mine was on Tuesday and I went through with it. Had some gas pains on Wednesday and some yesterday, but today I feel great. A few small aches at the incision sites, but nothing near what I was expecting (I was expecting the painI had after gallbladder removal).
I feel like having this almost forced me into being optimistic because I know I can’t change it now! I was in a great frame of mind before but the doubt kept sinking in on me, too. It seems that it is pretty normal for that to happen.
Thanks so much for the encouragement! I did indeed have surgery Tuesday, so I'm 5 days post-op today. The pain is mostly gone, except for some soreness across my incisions and I'm keeping up with fluids pretty well. I know this is just the beginning and things will ebb and flow over time, but today I'm grateful I summoned the courage to do the dang thing! Congrats to us both!

Hello all! Long-time listener, first-time caller. I had my sleeve surgery on Wednesday, so I’m on day 4 post-op. Gas pains subsided after the 2nd day. Of course I still have surgery pain, but it’s pretty mild. BUT, the gurgling is so annoying! My entire insides gurgle, and I’m having a hard time getting all of my liquids down.

Also, how long did y’all take off work? I took 3 days off, and since I work from home, I said I would work half-days this coming week.

I'm day 5 post-op and can confirm, the sounds coming out of my abdomen are the war cries of hell. It is loud and embarrassing and nonstop! But I'm told it gets better over time, so for now I'm just doing my best to ignore it.

As for work, I'm going back tomorrow. I also work from home at a desk job, with lots of flexibility to take breaks, rest, walk when needed.

I'd say it's unusual, but your weight can fluctuate for any number of reasons. Are you drinking a lot of salty stuff (broths)? Are you close to getting your period, if applicable? Are you under more stress than usual (duh)? Are you walking?

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
