Hair loss

Recommended Posts

Very common. Your body goes into shock after surgery & with the reduced calories your natural Hair loss cycle accelerates. You still are growing new hair as you usually do it’s just you’re losing faster so the loss is more noticeable.

Hair loss because of an accelerated hair loss cycle is not uncommon after childbirth, any major surgery or after experiencing a stressful event too.

It does slow back to your usual rate of loss after about three or four months. How much you lose though is very individual. There’s nothing you can do to stop it. The hair was scheduled to be shed at some time. Remember the hair you’re losing is already dead. Some people will say they took supplements or used special hair products but they still kept losing for about that 3 or 4 months.

I cut my hair to just above my shoulders so the new growth wouldn’t have to grow a lot to be the same length as the hair I had. I found by about 12 months later, my hair was just as thick as it was before.

Yau’ll get through this.

^^^^ ditto everything Arabesque said. Super common - and it will grow back! Fortunately, for most of us anyway, WE notice it, but it's usually not enough that others notice it.

For me it was Protein I think. I say this because I never knew lack of protein could cause it until I was speaking to dr about WLS. I haven’t had any loss so far at five months out post surgery, but I have had significant loss in the past on diets where I wasn’t supplementing my protein.

Did you happen to be sick with covid? after it, hаir often falls out. and correctly write, a deficiency of prоtein in the blood may be the cause. try to keep it at level 70-80
you can try supplеments made of glutathione in capsules or pоwder, which is one of the aminо acіds that promotes the creation of cоllagen within us. and collаgen, in turn, is our main prоtein

I started losing my hair at 3 mnths post op. Cut It all off into a pixie-cut shortly thereafter.

I noticed all the chicken hair regrowth around 6-7 months postop.

I’m almost 3 yrs post now and i have a full head of past-shoulder-length hair. Would’ve been longer but I had lots of haircuts.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
