You’re only a few days post op! Give it time. Follow the intake and dietary guidelines your program gave you. The weight will come off if you do. You’re body is still likely in the process of dropping all the extra fluids they gave you during surgery.

Also, for the surgery, you likely were pumped full of fluids so that you were less likely to get dehydrated. I “gained” 6+ pounds due to the IV when I had my surgery. Give yourself some time.

You gain Water weight from the IV fluids they give you in the hospital. It takes several days to lose that water weight (my surgeon said avoid the scale for the first 7-10 days, so that's what I'd suggest). Try not to stress yourself out, the few extra pounds after surgery is 100% normal!

Fluid!! Don’t weigh until 2-3 weeks postop!

As the other posters said plus are you constipated? That adds weight too (& it will become quite a regular occurrence).

Good luck & congrats on your surgery.

When I went in to have an abscess drained, I gained eight pounds from their saline solution, and had a ridiculous moon face that looked like I was a lifelong prednisone patient, and it took about two weeks to dry out. Don't fret.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
