Anyone Schedule for Surgery in June?

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is in June 3rd! My current weight is 109,4kg but my highest weight was 117kg.
I spoke to my surgeon on Monday (May 17th) about liquide diet pré-op, he said in France this is not necessary. It’s done in US countries. So no liquide is required for me.

No not really, I had to follow up with a nutritionist for 6 months in Order to sort out and rebalance my eating habits. By doing so, I lost 10kg by watching what I eat. But surgeon said no liquid diet required. Just no food in my stomach 12 hours before surgery

Congratulations! Mine is June 8. If you can try to cut back on carbs and sugar before surgery! I’m finding that cutting back has helped a lot and will help after! Your sooo lucky not to have this miserable liquid diet lol.

How are you doing now that you've had your surgery? I'm in FR as well and will have my surgery in October. No liquid diet for me either. You are correct in that they do not do that here in France. We do still have to eat very light in the pre-op (no sugar, no carbs, no more than 150 g of lean meat, no fats or oils), but we can eat. I wonder why it's not the same in the US?

I’m so happy I had my surgery, I don’t feel like a new person as yet but so glad I can fit into some nice looking clothes that are not leggings. My surgeon said that the reason they do liquid diets in the US, it’s because it allows the size of the organs to shrink so during the operation there are less risks.
I hope that all goes well for October. I had to be operated in February but due to COVID, it was pushed back twice.

I know what you mean when you say it's nice to fit into clothes that are not leggings, as that is pretty much all I wear these days. :( Wearing nice clothes is probably at the top of my list of things I want to do once I lose this weight...even if it sounds vain!

Glad you're recovering well. :)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
