Hey friends, had my VSG on Thursday morning and I’m still having pain with sips. It’s intermittent most of the time and doesn’t last long but it’s pretty sharp. Anyone with a similar experience immediately post op?

I had my VSG on a Tuesday and I’m still experiencing this. I’m having a hard time getting down my required Fluid for the day.

It’s likely swelling from the surgery. It happened to me too & that’s what my surgeon said it was. I had so much saliva as a result I carried a sick bag with me to spit it out. Had trouble swallowing my meds too. It noticeably improved by about day 3. I was not anywhere near meeting my fluid goals for those days. But it did improve.

Good luck.

I'm 3.5 weeks out and I feel this is pretty normal. My Protein Shakes where hard to get down the first two weeks and then improved significantly. They still sit heavy in my stomach though. I'm feeling well now and my issues is now keeping up hydration if I go out and do something which keeps me from drinking Water for an hour or two. Hang in there, it really does get better. Promise!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
