Must Haves For Surgery Day

I have been waiting on surgery since January 2020. It’s been a long journey. My surgery is April 27 and I’m wondering what are some things I wouldn’t think of to bring to the hospital? What did you bring?

Surprisingly little! Phone and charger, slippers, iPad, lip balm, and clothes I wore to the hospital and home again. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

you'll be sleeping most of the time, so you won't need much. Plus you'll probably only be there one night (I was there two nights, but I still slept most of the time I was there). A phone and phone charger. Some people like having lip balm and Biotene spray for dry mouth (common after surgery). Make sure you have baggy, easy to put on clothes for the ride home (I wore the same thing that I wore to the hospital). I brought toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste), but they gave me a bag of those at the hospital, so I really didn't need those (although I don't know if all hospitals provide you with those)

#1 most important thing....DRY MOUTH SPRAY!!! Don't leave home without it!

+1 on the dry mouth spray.

Also: a small pillow to hug against your abdomen on the ride home from hospital (you will feel every single bump on the road!)

You may want a pair of pajama pants to wear under gown as you walk the halls since it splits in the back.

I walked to the end of the hall with my IV stand in tow. When I got to the end and started to head back the other way a nurse came out of a room and tied up the back of my gown. As she was doing so I said "Normally I would be embarrassed but right now I don't give a damn"...she got a good laugh out of it.
