You do this for you and for your health! I'm afraid to tell my mom, one of my sisters and my gram for that reason. I'm afraid of their Negativity and I'm afraid of it effecting things. The guilt is real because I'm afraid of the what if something happens to me during surgery.

I understand. My fear is the "I told you so.". When my surgery was postponed bc of covid I was on my 2nd week of liquid. I modified the diet and kept losing. At 47 lbs lost they've decided that's enough. It's not enough for me.

First post-op appt with surgeon tomorrow. Down 33 pounds since started program, 27 since started pre-op diet. I still have some exhaustion and pain, and up and down emotions, but I am coping.

My surgery was May 10th. Gastric sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. I’m one week post op today. I’ve been able to drink 48oz of propel and at least an additional 50oz of Water. It’s been an absolute miserable chore, but I keep telling myself it’s better than ending up dehydrated and back in the hospital. Over the weekend I had a total of 3 SF popsicles and 9oz (4.5/day SF jello). Today I had horrible diarrhea, so I may just go back to water, propel and chicken broth like I did the first five days. I’ve been very down. The soreness pain I felt getting up and sitting or laying down has significantly improved but internally I feel like my organs are churning all the time and my incisions will sting and hurt often. This has been far harder mentally and physically than any other surgery I’ve been through. I’ve had an appendectomy for acute appendicitis that burst on the operating table. I’ve had bunionectomy surgeries on both feet and multiple bone spurs removed from one foot. This is obviously a far more extensive surgery, but man, I keep having to fight off regret and depression. My weight right before surgery was 207 and today I’m 199. The loss feels great, but honestly, I’m so miserable right now that getting out of the 200s doesn’t even feel that joyful.

Hang in there! I am two weeks post op today, and I am still tired and not able to do as much as I want. I agree—this is very mentally and physically challenging—you aren’t alone! Sending you positive thoughts!

I was sleeved 5/13 and beside being sore, it is going well! Sore around the incisions, but good!

I started pureed food on Saturday w hummus and scrambled egg (as per Dr's order) then tried egg salad today - there is a LOT of grumbling down there, but everything seems good and i've been able to keep it down.

I had to supplement my Water with some Gatorade zero - so probably 50/50.

Sending love to all my May surgery brothers and sisters

xx

I had my sleeve surgery and hiatal hernia surgery on the 3rd. I promise it gets better. This has also been a real struggle for me mentally some days. Moving into the new phases of full liquids, and now different varieties of mushy foods has me feeling halfway human again. I’m learning this first month is a roller coaster emotionally and physically for a lot of us. Stay strong and know you are not alone in these feelings.

Hang in there! Promise it gets better! Do you have a heating pad? I laid on one and it seemed to help whatever soreness/stiffness I was having. You got this!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
