I'm the same. I get Migraines a week before my period. I'm going to look into the B12. Thanks for sharing that.

Welcome! I took a combo that had the B12 in it so you might want to look into like a b-complex Vitamin, but I remember he specifically mentioned the b12. Hope it helps!

I am wondering if my breakthrough bleeding was less surgery related and more coincidence time wise. It started right after surgery but it has now been six weeks since surgery and I have had it every single day. Should I call dr? Does breakthrough bleeding mean anything if prolonged and continuous?? I cannot possibly be pregnant if that’s the only concern. I know I could Google this but I tend to drive myself crazy when I go that route since every symptom googled is a sign of some cancer or deadly disease. Lol

a lot of women have messed up menstrual cycles the first few weeks or months after surgery. It's supposedly due to the fat cells releasing estrogen during rapid weight loss. It'll eventually stabilize again. If you're worried, I'd call - but I'm guessing that's most likely what's going on. People post about that a lot.

Historically I have irregular periods and since my surgery exactly a week ago, it’s on nonstop. Heavy flow especially because of the blood thinner medication my surgeon put me on after surgery. So, I’m not having a great time adjusting at all with this whammy!

I have the iud, and i would get so light periods sometimes i didn’t need a liner. And after my surgery on friday i got my period heavier than I’ve ever had it.... the doctor told me that there are many hormones in the stomach and when they remove it everything has to readjust.... has anyone had something similar?

I was already post-menopausal when I had surgery, but A LOT of women have screwed up hormones the first few weeks or months after surgery. Weird cycles, mood swings, etc. Not sure about the stomach hormone thing, but I've read that estrogen is stored in fat cells, and it's released when you lose weight rapidly (so maybe those hormones are still left to come for you, unfortunately!). It does stabilize after awhile, though.

My period was due to hit day of surgery, thankfully it waited a day. Made for an interesting first post-op day, between cramps & gas pain...my abdomen was the one least in pain 😂

My periods have been lighter after surgery. Not sure what that's about but after reading this thread,I won't look a gift horse in the mouth!

I also use continuous BC for terrible periods, and the doctor made me go off mine. I'm now about to be 21 days post-op, so I'll be able to likely restart at 30 days. Surprisingly, I haven't had much of a period. I had some spotting in the hospital, but not since I've been home - assuming because I'm not eating much.

Hi All, I'm new here and a little late to this discussion, but wanted to comment because this was one subject I was searching online. I have and IUD and have had one for 2 years now. I have not had a period for about a year and a half, and now started getting them again 4 weeks after surgery. I only have the IUD so I do not have periods. Does anyone know how long this will last? Is it worth just having the IUD removed?

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
