C-PAP Machine for Apnea following Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Anyone using a C-Pap following your sleeve surgery? I assume it is safe and my doctor said okay to resume use I am 6 days Post-Op. I have read a lot of conflicting intel on the web about using after surgery. My doctor specifically said that long ago the medical community felt it may be unsafe and cause leaks but he says he never recommends discontinuing until you can do so naturally.

My doctors diet post-op for the first 5 weeks is a bit extreme compared to others on liquid diet only. I figured maybe everyone's surgeons have a different take on the C-PAP as well. Would love to hear from you on the matter if you would not mind sharing.

Thanks

I never took a break from my APAP. They even asked me to bring it with me in the hospital, and I used it almost continuously, dosing off in my bed most of the time.

I took mine to the hospital also. And I use it faithfully every night. You have been reading some funky stuff.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
