Hello April Sleevers,

We are getting ready to close out another month. How's everyone doing?

Any great non-scale victories? This weekend, I might try on a few of my older clothes that I had tucked away and do some shopping in my own closet again this weekend. Some clothes that I wore to work recently were looking a bit frumpy. Still trying not to buy clothes. So, will dig around in the closet again this weekend to find some smaller sizes. 😃

Walking was better this week. Water intake got better recently, but then dipped down the past couple days again so increasing my Water intake is a goal this weekend.

How's everyone doing?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi there,

It sounds like you are doing pretty good and water is very key to success, I agree. I know what you mean about frumpy clothes. I had a lot of choices but most look dated for today. I will buy new only for a special event and it seems that I don't mind showing a little more skin, too, lol.

I just have to tell everyone about my latest breakthrough. I FINALLY entered ONEDERLAND!!!! I'm now 198.1 I am so happy this stall is over after 26 days! I hovered around 200-202 for the longest time. So don't give up peeps! Getting into the soft foods phase can be challenging but be patient. I can honestly report that upping my intake of water helped a lot and going back to Reformer Pilates classes was a tremendous release of stressing about the stall and challenged my muscles more than ever. Sweating like a pig to do the exercises but having fun. I highly recommend Pilates. it seems to help with the saggy skin issue as well.

I eat 4-5 small meals a day surprisingly, but I know my present problems are my eyes being too big for my stomach and I waste a lot of food. I aim to get that under control. I have even thought about trying a vegetarian prepared food service. I rarely drink Protein Shakes anymore. I have a lot of powder left over. Oh well, as long as my days are filled with water, Protein, fruit, veggies and some dairy, I will continue to keep doing what I'm doing.

Take care everyone

Trish

Hello everyone,

I'm writing to ask for your help. I still have not found a daily Multivitamin that works for me. My program recommended that we use chewable for the first 2 months, starting after 2 weeks. So, at Week 3 I started the Bariatric Fusion chewable. My tummy did not like the first kind I had. So, I ordered a different flavor. Stomach was ok with second flavor, but I hated the chalky taste. I talked with my program about it at my 2 month follow up. I could move to capsules. So, I ordered capsules from Bariatric fusion. I was already using a supplemental Vitamin from them and just adding it to my Protein Shake. That was working from the 1 month mark. So, I got the multivitamin in a capsule, added it to a Protein shake, oh no. Totally horrible. The multivitamin stinks like crazy and is so nasty. Odd, because the supplement is fine.

So, before I spend even more money on multivitamin option #4, I'm writing to ask what is working for you all. What are you using that is not upsetting to your tummy and goes down easy. My program does not want me swallowing any large pills until month 4 so that's part of this adventure also. I can't just buy a multivitamin that comes in big pill form and they say it must be bariatric specific, not just a regular multivitamin. I'm considering BariMelts next. Just tired of wasting money. Plus, scared of the impact of not consistently taking Vitamins so far. Bloodwork is not until Month 4 check up. I feel fine. Just want to be doing the right things during this journey.

Thanks!

Hello @blueslily, I started out with the bariatric specific chewable multivitamin from bariatricpal. They was so nasty and had me nauseous. So I was relieved when I was told I could take the tablet form. The bariatric specific multivitamin tablet is kind of big. But i rather take those then them chewables. You can always crushed the tablet and put into applesauce. However, I still do take the calcium citrate chewables and sometimes the tablet. They are really big but can be crushed as well.

Anyone have any NSV to share? I’m in a large shirt now(went from 2x) and my waist size is 35 inches which means I officially have a healthy non obese waist size according to the cdc. I’m down exactly 50lbs! So proud of myself and my journey so far.

hows the gym going for everyone? I’m hitting it 5x a week. Also I’m loving my yoga routine.

im starting to be able to eat more than usual. Meal prepping is going really well for me. But chicken is the only meat I can do as fish just makes me cringe, turkey is to heavy and sits in my tummy like a rock, pork is ok but I don’t like it so much.

Thanks for the info. I tried the crushed option and hmm, nasty also. Will look into pills I can just cut in half and swallow though since I'm advised against swallowing big pills right now.

How are you doing?

Congrats, congrats! Is seafood like shrimp ok for your stomach?

Can you eat ground turkey or turkey with a sauce that makes it moist?

This weekend I'm going to check to see what size I really am now, lol. Have no clue. Just know my clothes are too big and I find ways to make them look smaller. I was going to go through some older, smaller clothes last weekend, but got lazy. Hahaha. Will try this weekend since it's a long holiday weekend.

Hi there!  Just wanted to gain some perspective.  Out of anyone here who had the gastric bypass, can you give me info on your journey?  How much weight did you lose in the first month, 3 months, 6 months after surgery?  I'm working on getting my clearances so that I can have surgery in late summer.  My friend, who just had GB, told me "your new life doesn't start the day of your surgery, but right now, so take care of yourself!"  So, I'm trying.  But hearing what others have experienced will give me some perspective and I'm big on that kind of thing.

I lost 25 pounds in 3 months before surgery and your friend is right. Putting off losing weight till surgery date just reminded me of all the excuses I made before. I'll wait till Monday to start or after the holidays.

I'm 8 weeks out from Gastric Bypass and lost another 25. So I'm averaging about 3 pounds a week post-surgery. That's the most I've ever lost consistently over time without regain so I'm happy. Good luck on your journey!

Waiting for surgery date…still undecided sleeve vs. RNY

      1. Jodi74

I had the sleeve 9/13/21 and just had a the sleeve to bypass revision on 5/3/23. My HW:321 (I'm 5' 8" tall)and I went down to 254 while doing my 7 nutrition appts required by my insurance company. So just changing the way I ate, I was able to get those pounds off w/o surgery. I have many Co morbidities mixed hyperlipidemia, diabetes, htn, MI due to covid. I had read and done quite a bit of research so I could choose the best surgery for myself and learned previous to my sleeve that someone as heavy as I was and all the Co morbidities I have, it was better in my situation to have the bypass but, my DR. Kept saying I would have the same results with the sleeve. Every time I would see him and say to him that I felt it would be best to just get the bypass, he just shot me down and said the sleeve would produce the same results! Why he kept asking me which surgery I wanted at each visit just to tell me the sleeve was all I needed still a mystery to me????? Let's just say, my Dr. Was wrong you see, the surgeries are both about the same price, but the sleeve is easier for the surgeon to perform so I think my DR. Just wanted the easier since he would get the same pay no matter what. After sleeve surgery I did go from 254 to 226 BUT that's just because you are healing from surgery and can't eat anyway as soon as I recovered! I was starving non-stop. I went right back up and stayed at 248. Still had to take cholesterol meds, blood pressure meds, diabetes meds etc. I'm now almost 4 weeks post op the bypass and feel great. I'm not starving all the time, went from 248 to 220 and doing great! Not only what you just read about my story, you also hear about a lot of people needing revision after the sleeve due to acid reflex like severe acid reflex all the time. So the bypass surgery is the only way to stop This reflux if you acquire this condition after sleeve surgery. The regain possibility is higher with sleeve than bypass so just think about all these factors before you make your decision. I wish I would have just had the bypass and saved myself from having to have 2 surgeries in under 2 years. The bypass surgery was also less painful for me lol! I don't know if the new surgeon was better or what but, I was home the next day. After the sleeve I had to stay an extra night due to the nausea and vomiting all night and for pain control.

      2. BabySpoons

After doing the research between the sleeve and bypass, I chose the Gastric bypass for quite a few different reasons. Thankfully my surgeon told me I was a perfect candidate for it after he examined my health history. Oddly enough, his nurse tried talking me into getting the sleeve too. Like your doc said, she thought it was easier and just as good. But I'm not looking for easy. I'm looking for more effective. Just the reflux alone was enough for me to say no thanks.

Sorry you had to get 2 surgeries and wishing you all the best!

Who knew Filet Mignon would make me so sick. Leftovers from Mother's Day.  On the upside..next day I started walking outside a little over a mile without stopping or back pain. That's a bit deal for me considering how inactive I've been for years. Woot woot!

Five-week follow-up for gastric bypass and now on lifetime food plan. No restrictions.  In all that time I was fortunate to get sick only one time, week 1, on Easter. Chicken broth...go figure.
