Going to be saving a lot of money on Food, booze and toilet paper!

Recommended Posts

Well from what I have observed in a week, we are going to be saving lot of money on booze, food and toilet paper oh and skim milk! . I liked to drink good bourbon and will not be doing that anymore so that is some good savings. I was the primary user of T paper and that will be significantly less. Grocery bill is already way down. I was a heavy skim milk drinker. probably 8 gallons month. I believe this will all add up to over $600 month. Not too shabby!

Life is too short not to drink good bourbon my friend. I'm ok with giving up beer for a while, but not whiskey.

BufBills...I have a ways to go before any brown liquor ☺️. But I am sure there may be a time I will have a short glass ...Just not yet by friend! Life is too short!

I think you'll find that you'll only need a small fraction of the bourbon you used to drink for the same result. Be really careful when you try again. Eventually you can have a little...all things in moderation....but if you're concerned about transferance addiction, it might be best to stay away.

But yeah...the small stomach will stretch your bourbon dollars, too:)

Not worried bout transfer addiction. I am addicted to a lot of things. food, I am putting a check mrk next to that and booze because I am never going to eat and drink again like I have in the past. Work, A bit of Gambling, shopping of all sorts, weight lifting, internet surfing....The list goes on and on!! One thing at time. Let me get this in my rearview first :)

All plans are different. My docs told us/my class, not to drink alcohol after surgery. I am not a drinker, so it doesn't affect me.

Lots of Dr.'s tell their patients not to drink. Hidden sugars, addiction transfer. But they never say anything about other addiction transfers..... Sex, shopping, work, obsessing over our "new" bodies.....

When I had surgery, I said I would never drink again. At two years, I now have a half glass of wine every few weeks.

Regarding food costs: it depends. I obviously eat way less than before, but I do purchase specialized high-protein, low-carb products (including from the Bariatric Pal store), and they can be pricey. Also, skim milk is a regular part of my current diet--mostly in coffee!

The "addiction transfer" is a term that is very new to me but something I think about quite a bit. Guess I never really put a name to it.

One thing i've read up on quite a bit lately and something I firmly believe in.... we will NEVER get rid of our demons (insert addiction de jour here or mental baggage/whatever) so we're really only left with one choice. Change our relationship with the things that plague us. This is the hard work I keep harping on about.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
