Almost 6 months after surgery, and I am freezing all the time.

I can not get warm no matter what I do.

Is this happening to anyone else?

The first year I was frozen all the time. Had an electric blanket on my bed and turned it on for half an hour before I got into it even in the summer. LOL. Am not cold sensitive like that any longer. It gets better:)

I have only just started the process but in the end I am HOPING this will be a "problem" for me.

Right now I feel like an outcast and am ALWAYS the one who is hot in the house, stores, restaurants, etc. I HATE IT!! My family accommodates me because they know it's easier to put layers on to get warm and there really isn't much I can do to cool down. Can only strip down so much and definitely not while out. LOL Legit my Winter "coat" is nothing more than a sweater that doesn't even button/snap down. LOL And I can't chalk it up to going through the change cause the last time I was tested my numbers were no where near approaching that. Sigh

But seriously, hope your body regulates itself sooner rather than later.

Its pretty much guaranteed, I think. I have yet to read a report of someone who didn't feel cold after going through rapid weight loss.

I am 2+ years out and I notice I still run much colder than people around me (even the never-fat people). It's not as bad as the first year, but am still pretty cold.

I was the first year or so. Not any more. It's very common, esp the first few months after WLS.

My dietician told me being cold is permanent in 80% of her weight loss surgery clients. I wasn't happy to hear that.

Not going to lie... I'm kind of looking forward to this, as opposed to the person standing around in a tshirt when it's near snowing. But... I guess I've never been cold all the time, so I may change my tune when that happens!

As someone who used to break in a sweat from minimal exertion, I TOTALLY prefer being cold over being eternally moist, lol

Team “always freezing” here. I have a mattress warmer on my side of the bed. I only drink warm-to-hot Water. Microwavable hand warmers for walking the dog. And I have a lovely assortment of long Johns. It’s a way of life at this point.

Yes I’m cold all of the time. Most of the time I wear a light jacket. I’ll take being cold over always sweating like I was pre-sleeve

In bed, I wear socks and use an electric blanket on the highest setting. I’ve still been cold lately (we live in Ohio and keep the room chilly), so I may put a down comforter on top tonight. My hands get real cold, but I refuse to wear gloves to bed (yet)!

I was really hoping to turn into a cold person, and maybe I still will because I have a lot of weight still to lose, but at 6 months out I feel pretty much the same as I always did at this weight (269, I started at 393). My whole life even at my lowest weight of 153 and even as a normal weight kid, I was always not natured.
It's cold here in Missouri right now and I do use a down comforter at night, but I still get hot toward morning.
I'm definitely far less hot than at 393 lbs though, so I'll take it.
I'd rather be cold than hot any day! I've always hated to be hot!

This is very common with rapid weight loss, it means that your body is in starvation mode and trying to conserve energy any way possible. This is actually very common to experience with eating disorders as well, especially anorexia

I started buying the "hand warmers" that you just shake them to activate. I put them in my socks to keep my feet/toes warm. That is the coldest part of my body. I usually wear long johns, sweats, cami, sweatshirt, 2 pairs of socks, and sometimes even have to put my bathrobe on over it. I am still cold after all that. It is awful.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
