Well... I have hypothyroidism so I've had so many stalls that I quite literally lost count. My scale actually pisses me off on a regular basis lol. I'm still losing, don't get me wrong. But when you frequently stall for two weeks at a time you want to throw the damn scale at the wall! 🙄 Everyone's body reacts to the surgery differently and some have more stalls then others. I just happen to be one of the cursed ones... 😢 Anyway, I hope your stall passes soon! They're so irritating aren't they?

Same same same, I like to measure myself on and off when I want to throw the scale out the window. That can be uplifting at times :) But the stalls surely suck !!!!

I'm nearly 3 months out and currently in my first stall which has been going on for over 2 weeks. I'm very fed up with gaining and losing the same 1/2 lb.........It's just frustrating because I'm getting in the Water and Protein and never go over 1000 calories per day which before surgery would have meant I lost consistently! I wonder if it's because I've been on very reduced calories for 5 months and my body's getting used to the lower intake.

How long ago did you get surgery?

I had surgery 12/20/19, and just was stalled for four months. I’ve been going crazy! Thankfully I tweaked my exercise and diet enough to get the scale moving again. Sometimes I also think that our bodies just need a moment to process the trauma and changes they’ve been through.

Stalls are still as annoying as anything, though.

My surgery was 22nd October 2020 but I was on a liver shrinking diet from mid August.

that's long for a stall - you may have thrown yourself into maintenance instead. So it's good you tweaked - that's what you need to do if you're not done losing yet!

I had several stalls along the way. They became more frequent and lasted longer after around the year mark. I kept thinking "well, this is it...", but then my weight loss would start up again.

I stall for a week, then lose for four or five days. Its fine as long as I keep trending down. I had a fantastic start, so no complaints here. I did expect it to be more like before surgery when I lost weight.

Stalls happen. You just have to breathe through them. Your body is just coming to terms with all the changes - diet, weight loss, changes in activity, etc. Don’t stress your body or yourself more with worrying over a number on the scale.

If the scale upsets you, put it away for a few days. When I was in a stall, I would look at the graph of my weight loss & enjoy the general trend downwards not my actual daily weight.

Sometimes even if the number on the scale isn’t changing, a tape measure may reveal a smaller number. Or you may realise your general fitness level has increased. Or a pair of pants are looser.... Look for the small wins. The scales will start to move downwards again.

I had my surgery Nov. 4....first few weeks were 4 lbs. a week. Then all the sudden it slowed to 1 lb. a week for several weeks. At first I was upset, then I realized, I’m sSTILL losing, just slower and maybe this was the way it was gonna work with me. I also had not been getting my Protein and Water in and was trying foods outside the plan. Then 2 weeks ago I stalled and stayed at the weight from the week before! So I went back to eating more of what I should be , and this week I lost 3 lbs!! Soooo, we’ll see what happens next week, but I’m so glad that worked. I’m a renegade I guess, but I can tow the line if I have to, I guess. I still don’t get all my protein in and I’m probably not getting all my water in either, but I have been trying harder.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
