I had surgery on 3/18. Gastric Sleeve. Weight before surgery was 436. After liquid diet and day before surgery, I was 394. Almost 4 weeks out now, Thursday will be 4 weeks, and I weighed 342.6 this morning. I have no had any issues with nausea or vomiting. I had gas for a few days after but it quickly subsided. The pain has been the worse. Today, out of nowhere, I felt a pop down there and magically all the pain has disappeared. Fearing the worse, I called and went and got a sonogram today. Everything is fine and I am finally pain free. My biggest issue is liquids. I can drink the Water and everything but all this sugar free stuff tastes like absolute crap. It's killing me.

This is fantastic m, congrats! When did you weight 436? Almost 100 lbs is amazing but I’m curious the time frame. I started at 492 on 3/11, surgery was 3/25 I was 471 and as of 4/11 i was 439. So I’ve lost 50+ in about a month. I know that won’t continue but a good start. You’re killing it bro!

I have found that Vitamin Water zero qnd mio liquid drops have been my best friend. I also bought BariWise sugar free hot chocolate. 15 g of Protein in only 8 ozs of water. Today I made two packets in 16 ozs of water. Meaning I got 30 g protein in andd 16 ozs of liquids so that is a great way to go of you're sick of shakes.

I have had some new and confusing tummy upset with plain Water that I never had before so I've been experimenting. I really like the Tazo teas and if you make a 1:1 sweet orange and passion it tastes a little sweet with none of the gross sugar free flavor. It's even better iced.

Checking in on a Friday night! How is everyone doing? I am almost 2 months since my surgery was March 1st. I am eating a little more but still very restricted as far as amount of intake at one time. I have found Quest chips crave my need to "having a crunching sound" when eating. Weight from surgery date is 34 lbs and 54 lbs all together. I have way more energy and each week seems to be better. The hardest part has been the acid reflux and Constipation. TMI. If I could figure out those 2 issues, all would be really good! Would love to hear how the rest of you are doing!!

I was 5 weeks post op yesterday. Like you I’m barely eating. I have no desire to eat and when I do it’s forced. Nothing sounds good at all. I’m having difficulty swallowing all the pills required (which I never had any issues before). This is a mental battle. I haven’t had any pain or discomfort or any real physical issues other than getting a little lightheaded when getting up to fast at times. I’ve managed to cut one of my blood pressure meds in half so that’s good. I’ve lost 70 lbs in 7 weeks (5 weeks post op & 2 weeks pre op diet). While I’ve lost a good amount of weight, I hate that I have zero hunger and I can barely eat. It sucks majorly. But I’m hopeful that as time goes by that will change.

Congrats on the blood pressure medicine cutting! I was able to do the same. I have found several bits of food throughout the day helps. One thing I found was the Quest Protein chips. They help with hunger and allow me to feel like I am "eating" with the chewing. I had similar with pills. I did get a pill cutter which helped with swallowing pills. Just some ideas. The weight you have loss is awesome!!!

How do the chips taste? I have a hard time thinking they’ll be appetizing not being “real” chips. I take the ProCare bariatric multi Vitamin and it can’t be cut in half.

I am 5 wks post op and have lost 30 lbs since surgery. Sometimes I feel like this is not enough weight loss and it is frustrating. Anyone else in the 30 lb since day of surgery?

I will be six weeks post op tomorrow and was down 34.8 lbs as of yesterday. I’m having a hard time finding anything appetizing to eat and I’m rarely hungry so it’s mostly yogurt these days. My liquids are going down easier lately and I’m grateful for that.

I would look at it as a % at this point. I’m 5 weeks and a few days post op and I’m 70+ lbs but I also started at 492 (two weeks pre op). So unless you were as heavy as I was, your % might be close to the same or even better. Just food for thought.

I’ll be 6 weeks post op on Thursday and I’m in the same exact boat. Minus the yogurt. I have zero hunger, get full after a few bites and nothing sounds or looks appetizing. I know this is the design but it’s demoralizing at the same time. Total and complete mental battle.

I managed to get all of my pre surgical tests/office visits scheduled in 1 day.  EKG✔️, Chest xray ✔️, blood tests✔️,  Nutrition visits ✔️, Psych consult✔️, PCP and surgeon visit it scheduled! Ive already bought items based on other sleevers suggestions! Baby spoons, water bottle with time markings, sippy cup, blender bottle, bowls, plate, protein drinks, food for stage 1 and 2, powder tylenol, abdominal support wrap, snack containers, bariatric bento box made of glass, and any other items that will help me during my journey! Good luck to anyone out there whose surgery is coming up!!!

Less than a week before gastric bypass surgery. I'm nervous but excited. Been lurking here for a while, reading. I'm about ready as I'm going to get. Down 20 pounds in 3 months. A ton of pre op testing done and cleared. Food/drinks, chewable vitamins, protein, meds bought. On 2-week preop diet now which includes 2 protein shakes a day along with 3 ounces lean protein and 2 1/2 C.  non starchy veggies and is totally do able for me. Clear liquid day before surgery. A full sugar Gatorade night before  and again 2 hrs before arriving at the hospital. Interesting how different everyone's diets are depending on your doctor.
      I'm optimistic all will go well. Good luck to the April surgeries happening this month and to all that are going through the process.  {{hugs}}

195 weight when I went in for surgery
199 weight when I got home for surgery
193.2 weight 4 days after surgery
If the inflammation from surgery is resolved, I've lost 1.8lbs in 4 days.

Had surgery last Thursday, so I've been home for 2 days as of 15 minutes ago.  I weighed more when I got discharged than when I went in despite only having eaten a Jello cup in 2 days, but I put that down to inflammation. This morning I weighed a little less than I went in.  I sneezed last night and my fiance saw me cry for the first time, and we've been together 16 years. I took my multivitamin first thing this morning and threw up. Kept it down after drinking 4oz protein shake. Yogurt gives me diarrhea, water hurts more than the fuller liquids, and my stomach is turning somersaults and I think I'm hungry because I'm used to interpreting it that way, but I have no desire to eat.
My biggest problem is that I am used to being busy.  I own a business and I've been getting active on these boards, and when I'm on my laptop I forget to drink. Will I hurt myself if I drink faster?  I've been scheduling 4oz every 30 minutes with breaks before and after meals.  Is it too fast to drink 4 oz in 15 min to get caught up on what I missed?

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?

I had the same issue. My scale was 6 pounds heavier than my bariatric doctor's. My scale agreed with my nutritionist's scale. I asked my bariatric doctor to have her scale recalibrated and she said it was a really expensive scale, so she trusted it. So, when it comes down to it, the scale that matters isn't the one that's right, it's the one that determines if you get your surgery or not. I would ask her when it was last calibrated and see if she will calibrate it. The difference is I Iost weight so well on the lifestyle change diet that I had to stop losing weight or risk not getting the surgery.
