So I was blessed with our rainbow baby a year after my surgery. And while pregnant I could tell my stomach size adjusted to hold more to support a baby. Like the farther along I got the more my stomach would tell me it’s hungry or require more meals more frequently and towards the end I would eat bigger meals. PLEASE DONT LECTURE ME I WASNT GOING TO STARVE MY GROWING BABY. But I knew my body would only tell me I was hungry if it needed it but anyway I’m breastfeeding and supplementing since I can’t produce enough milk for him. I was wanting to do a liquid diet for awhile to help my tummy “return to normal” or help me get back to smaller meals and no carbs. I didn’t start eating carbs until I got pregnant but here I am almost three months post and still eating carbs like pizza and burger (yes I know I shouldn’t but I still have pregnancy cravings because of breastfeeding) I’m hoping doing the liquid diet will fix my cravings to. How long should I do a liquid diet for before moving back to the (solids)high Protein diet? I haven’t gained a lot I went from 214lbs to 250lbs while pregnant and right after birth I went down to 218lbs but now I’m back to 237lbs and want to get this under control before it gets out of hand. And possibly get below my prepregnancy weight and reach my overall goal of 180lbs.

This is something you should talk to your doctor about. As a nursing couple you need a certain amount of quality calories to maintain breast feeding if you want to continue it. There are also some meds you can take that are safe for the baby that can increase your milk production.
You could also seek out the help of a lactation consultant One helped me tremendously!

I wish you the best of luck with continued breast feeding if that’s what you want to do. My youngest & I were a nursing couple for 28 months & it was amazing to provide so much of the “good stuff” for so long.

Congratulations on your baby! I'd say consult your dietitian or doctor, as nursing mothers have very specific nutritional needs.

I wouldn't do a liquid diet while you are nursing. You need quality calories right now for your baby. Ask a dietitian for help.

Does your surgeon's office offer lifetime dietician counseling? I would call the doctor's office and their advice to specific to a nursing new mother.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
