Good Morning!!!

I joined the Losers Bench two weeks ago today. I was hoping that someone could set my mind at ease. It has been 4 weeks since I started my liquid diet and then surgery and POST-OP diet that follows. I have lost 49 pounds. My question is this....over the last 5 days the number on the scale hasn't budged. Is this a normal reaction of my body hanging on to every last ounce that it can??

You are doing great so far. Stalls are very normal, google weight loss surgery three week stall, though yours is four weeks (the three week stall can become four or five week stall).

Your body is taking time to adjust to the varous food stages plus the recent 'big' losses.

You are doing great, keep doing what you are doing. Some stalls can last a few weeks, some are longer, some stalls are shorter. If yours lasts beyond a few weeks (and assuming you are following your post op guidelines), you may want to check in with your surgeon or dietician.

Welcome to the 3 week stall. My wife and I also had surgery around 1 week before you and have also hit our stall. If you look on the forum there are a lot of people that have this stall due to the rapid weight loss. Per the other forum posts, we just need to keep at it and our body will start losing again soon.

Everybody and I mean EVERYBODY Stalls either in Week 3 or 4. It's not you. Just wait it out and stick to the program. It'll start moving again.

You are on the same track as I was as a male. Yes stalling is going to occur - I found intermit fasting and slamming the calorie count around to break the stall

yep - it's the infamous three week stall. Happens to almost everyone (it's usually, but not always, the third week. But sometime within the first 4-6 weeks after surgery, pretty much everyone has their first major stall. It typically lasts 1-3 weeks). If you do a search on this site, you'll find over 15,000 posts on it. And no, I am NOT kidding! Just stick to your plan and stay off your scale if you have to. The weight loss WILL start up again...

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
