Thanksgiving cooking

Recommended Posts

Week 2 out

Can I put in my mouth and then spit out ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ itโ€™s really hard to cook and not being able to taste test anything. Flying blind here

Iโ€™m tempted lol

But the temptation is also there to swallow what youโ€™re chewing.

Personally, I think chewing & spitting isnโ€™t the best idea. I know some people do but I never did. Weโ€™re put on the staged diet for a reason - so as not to damage our new digestive system before it is fully healed. Of course it is your decision.

It is a good reason to pass cooking duties onto another family member. Lol!

Congrats on your surgery.

I agree. During my first post op holidays, I still did the cooking, but had other family members do the taste testing. You really only have to get through one holiday season - by this time next year, you will be able to enjoy all the healthy foods, but in much smaller quantities. You will learn to cook in healthier ways, eliminating the sugars and a lot of the fat. You will use more vegetables, cooked healthier, and fruits will play a more important role in Desserts. Just hang in there for the next month and you will be fine. The best part is that this is one holiday season that you will LOSE weight instead of gaining!!!!! :)

I didnโ€™t do it guys ๐Ÿคค I just had the Turkey broth. All good.

Good job resisting temptation! That must have been difficult. I live alone, so I have it easier than most when it comes to not having to be around food I canโ€™t eat, let alone having to cook it for other people. I almost cried the first week I went back to work and my boss brought in takeout from my favorite local restaurant and put a delicious meal I couldnโ€™t eat on my desk (nobody at work knows I had weight loss surgery). You, and all those who cook food for your families when youโ€™re on a liquid diet, are so strong!

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall overย (ย weeble wobble).ย
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making likeย ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.ย
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is ๐Ÿคข).
