Pain at the opening of stomach

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to know if anyone is going through this or has? I’m pretty scared every now and then I eat or drink something and it’s kinda painful when it gets to the opening of the stomach, I have called my doctor and he had called me right away and will be running test but has anyone gone through it and might know maybe what it is.

I am going through the same thing. Wish I had some answers for you. After 2 bites, I get a pain that feels almost like the food is tearing into my stomach as it goes down. It makes me not want to eat at all. Sometimes it even does it with liquid! Btw my bypass surgery was 10/28/20

Are you taking small bites, chewing thoroughly, and giving yourself plenty of time to feel how each bite feels in your stomach?

When I have that kind of uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, it's usually because I've taken too big of a bite or haven't chewed well enough.

Could that be the case for you? It is happening with things like soft foods and liquids too?

Sorry for all the questions, was hoping to help narrow down possibilities! Best of luck to you!

Personally, it happens even when I'm drinking, but worse when I'm eating something. Almost always on the third bite. It's like I've swallowed a key sideways and it's dragging down into my stomach. I've stopped eating solid foods and gone back to liquids and puree. Hoping that will help.

I just wanted to give an update on my issue. I ended up going to the ER on the 27th of November because the pain while eating was not getting better. Infact, it seemed to be getting worse. On top of that it seemed that even just a couple bites of food or drink and I was vomiting. It turns out I have an ulcer. They've put me on some medication but I understand they can be pretty tricky to heal and that they can be easily re-agitated. I'm really only able to eat yogurt, creamy Soup and baby food at this point. Even that hurts after a couple bites and makes me nauseous. I'm taking anti nausea medication, but it doesn't seem to help much. I'm trying to look on the bright side and tell myself I'm going to lose even more weight, faster but I miss eating.

Were you taking an acid reducer like pantaprazole?

I was prescribed Omeprazole 40mg for post op. I've never taken them and have never had any consistent issues with heartburn. I know surgery could change that. I just spoke with my surgeon who confirmed that it was the swelling of the stomach that caused it and that hot liquids go down easier than cold during the first 2 weeks.

Be sure to take them to prevent ulcers, which are painful, dangerous for bleeding and cancer, hard to get rid of once you get them.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
