I have lost 70 pounds now. Have minor saggy skin in expected places and I can hide with clothes. But my neck is really ugly. I guess I had a lot of fat in double chin and I lost a lot fat there. What can I do (without plastic surgery) to improve my neck? I don't want to wear turtle necks all the time. 20200916_013920.jpg 20200916_013940.jpg

I had those same vertical lines on my neck too so I know how you feel. My neck improved a couple of months after I started maintenance. I also underwent several radio frequency treatments & added collagen & silica to my diet. But, & this is the bad news, nothing will get rid of the lose skin but surgery. It will improve a bit, but once your skin has been over stretched it just won’t go back. Just like elastic that’s been over stretched over time.

Oh, to be 25 again with elastin rich skin. Sigh.

Congrats on your weight loss so far. That’s amazing.

(I just remembered that ball thing they used to promote to tighten your neck muscles & skin to get rid of double chins. And my great aunts used to wear chin straps so they wouldn’t get double chins. OMG, the things people got sucked into doing. 😂)

I agree that with a little time, the sagginess does get better. I was 62 when I had surgery and had a real turkey neck after the weight loss. I was really embarrassed, as I had a lot more facial wrinkles as well. But so many people told me I looked younger that I just had to chose to believe them and stop being ashamed at my new body which was amazing in every other way. Now 20 months post op, it isn't so bad. I've seen women my age that have more wrinkles and saggier necks than me, without having had weight loss. A lot depends on the light and angle. We are very hard on ourselves when we scrutinize ourselves in the mirror. When I look at photos now, I don't look half bad! I just found a "before" picture that is utterly horrifying. I never really knew how fat I looked. I'll take a little neck sag any time!!!!

I have the same issue. As the above posters said, it does get better over time, but it's still there. I've had plastic surgery on my body but not on my face/neck. I'm starting to consider the latter.

Mine actually got better over time but some is still there. I'm thinking I'll have a mini facelift as a retirement gift to myself whenever I decide to retire! By then I should be done with the body work.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
