Anyone for September 2020?

Pookyl, very well done and congratulations.

Glad everything went well with you.

I was the same with the liquids as I always tend to wolf it down as quickly as possible.

They started me with a 30ml medicine cup for the 1st couple of days.

Now I'm sipping regularly throughout the days along with some pureed foods.

To be honest these are small prices to pay for the fact that everytime i step on the scales the number goes down. Its absolutely amazing that I don't feel hungry at all. I think I will need to take extra care in future so that I don't become anorexic. Lol

Try to rest as much and as often as you feel like now that you are back home.

Well done once again

12 hours since surgery and in so much pain!!! I cannot walk due to being extremely sleepy and dizzy. Also, anyone have a hard time peeing post-op? It feels like I'm having to push it out.

Hello! newbie here
I had surgery on September 3, the Magenstrasse + Mill procedure, which is very similar to the sleeve 🙃
It's an old procedure that my surgeon feels certain will make a comeback (in a safer way, using modern tech!)

Tomorrow marks one month post-op. I'm struggling a little in terms of feeling isolated (single girl, none of my friends know, so I'm not socialising much) but looking forward to seeing the number on the scales going down!

Nice! And congrats! This group is awesome and you can always message me to chat. I am new on here too. I had my sleeve done on the 14th. I understand about not telling anyone. I have told only a few people I trust. I am doing good and I have lost 15lbs since my surgery date. How much did you lose? To me it seems like I lose about 1/2 lbs a day. I feel great but I am missing food lol. I have to cook for my kids so I see the foods I use to eat with them all the time. I’m in the puréed stage for 2 weeks. What did you have for that stage?

Surgery was Wednesday as well. Not trouble peeing, but I am still in so much pain. Any idea on how long this usually lasts?

Pain at the incision sites or from gas? Or somewhere else?

I'm hoping not much longer. Between hunger pains, incision pain and a bit of gas pain left I'm weak af. My kids are finding me positively useless

I had surgery September 2nd and the first 72 hours was agony. Make sure your team are doing everything they can to manage your pain. Don't try to tough it out. Narcotics and opiates don't work on me so 1500mg of Tylenol was what I did the entire time I was actively in pain. Only downside was that I could only take it every 6 hours and it wore off after 4. A heating pad on my back and on my stomach made a HUGE difference for me. Also, like everyone else says, walking, walking, walking. Make sure you are getting as much Fluid in as you can as well--the dehydration can cause your muscles to spasm, and that makes everything feel 100x worse. Hang in there guys! By this time next week, you will all feel so much better!

I’m thinking it’s gas. And then then incision on the far left. My surgeon told me that one would hurt the most. I’m only hurting on that side though. Nothing unbearable, but I have to sleep on my back and have assistance getting up

Mine was September 23rd! Wednesday I move up to puree/soft food - my plan is a little different than most I've been allowed to have things like scrambled egg substitute or pudding things like that, and wednesday i can pretty much have most things that are soft - ground meats, tofu, cheeses, etc etc. Very much looking forward to it. The immediate post op I have never been in so much pain in my life, but the hospital stay was pretty uneventful - there were a lot of times I literally didn't feel any pain (my surgeon's resident said she's never heard someone say their pain was a zero before lol). After I got home? Completely different story. But after a day of misery I started feeling better. I'm thinking because I'm young my body is bouncing back a little more... but I guess I'll see how my body reacts when I reintroduce meats :')

Congratulations to everyone! I had my surgery on the 14th and am doing pretty well. I've been sick a few times due to eating too fast and will continue to keep training myself to fix that. My question to everyone is have you found an online accountability group that has a zoom, or whichever online forum, monthly group? Due to covid, my surgeons office has stopped all support groups and I feel like it would be beneficial to talk with others and hear how they are doing and suggestions for any issues that arise etc. I am on several FB groups but find that a lot of the post tend to be related to the same things and wanting others to tell them its okay to have soda or do things that they know we shouldn't be doing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

195 weight when I went in for surgery
199 weight when I got home for surgery
193.2 weight 4 days after surgery
If the inflammation from surgery is resolved, I've lost 1.8lbs in 4 days.

Had surgery last Thursday, so I've been home for 2 days as of 15 minutes ago.  I weighed more when I got discharged than when I went in despite only having eaten a Jello cup in 2 days, but I put that down to inflammation. This morning I weighed a little less than I went in.  I sneezed last night and my fiance saw me cry for the first time, and we've been together 16 years. I took my multivitamin first thing this morning and threw up. Kept it down after drinking 4oz protein shake. Yogurt gives me diarrhea, water hurts more than the fuller liquids, and my stomach is turning somersaults and I think I'm hungry because I'm used to interpreting it that way, but I have no desire to eat.
My biggest problem is that I am used to being busy.  I own a business and I've been getting active on these boards, and when I'm on my laptop I forget to drink. Will I hurt myself if I drink faster?  I've been scheduling 4oz every 30 minutes with breaks before and after meals.  Is it too fast to drink 4 oz in 15 min to get caught up on what I missed?

      tl:dr at bottom,
I could use some advice. I went to see my dietician today (not a bariatric surgery dietician, I can explain why I am seeing her if you want to know). She knows I am going to have weight loss surgery as long as I hit the goal weight my insurance told me I need to be at. I have to be at the goal weight by June 24, 2023, in order for my insurance to pay for my surgery.
I had a weigh in the doctor's office a couple of days ago and weighed 301, my scale at home said 302. However, on the same day, the scale at a friend's house said 313.
I knew I had this Dietician appointment two days later and I knew she would weigh me. I continued to weigh myself at home (after getting new batteries) and I was at 302 then 299 and today at home I weighed 303, right before my appointment, when I got to her office I was weighed and it said 313.
I am concerned about what to believe since the doctor's office and my scale show similar numbers. I also bought a new scale today and it said 313.
The Dietician told me I needed to eat more protein, which honestly I struggle with. she said I needed 150 grams!!  I said are you kidding? that seems like a lot.  She used my weight to come up with this number.
Should I really be trying to eat enough protein for a 300-lb person or should I be eating protein for a goal-weight person (mine is 170)?
also, my clothing is loose like I lost the 20 lbs mine and the doctor's scale shows, and not 10 lbs like everyone else's scale shows. Also, I have always naturally been more muscular even when I was 120 lbs and did not eat any protein aside from what is in plants.
tl:dr- should I be eating enough protein to support a 300lb person or should I be eating protein for a "normal" sized person? AND should I trust the Doctors scale more so than the Dietician's scale?

I had the same issue. My scale was 6 pounds heavier than my bariatric doctor's. My scale agreed with my nutritionist's scale. I asked my bariatric doctor to have her scale recalibrated and she said it was a really expensive scale, so she trusted it. So, when it comes down to it, the scale that matters isn't the one that's right, it's the one that determines if you get your surgery or not. I would ask her when it was last calibrated and see if she will calibrate it. The difference is I Iost weight so well on the lifestyle change diet that I had to stop losing weight or risk not getting the surgery.
