Am I drinking too much

Recommended Posts

I'm one week post op. I know we're supposed to stay hydrated, but I seem to have no trouble taking in fluids. I try to space it as best as possible. I just don't want to ness up

I never had issues with it either. Fluids go right through you, so there's not much chance of messing anything up. Your stomach should let you know if you're guzzling too fast. I didn't chug, but on the other hand, I didn't sip really slowly, either.

I was wondering this same thing! I’ve heard people have trouble getting down like Premier Protein or something, but I can drink it no problem. So all I’m doing right now is just making sure I’m paying attention to how much I drink that has calories vs doesn’t

I had a similar problem post surgery. After the first day or so, had no problem drinking over 64 Oz a day. My bariatric team told me not to worry about it.
The only restriction I feel with liquid now (7 weeks post op) is after I eat (even though I wait an hour after eating for drinking, it still feels like the food is still there, blocking the liquid for a bit).

In theory, is this why Soups go down easier as well? I can fill up on a couple ounces of cottage cheese but can eat (albeit slowly) a 7 oz Soup quite easily.

First two days were rough after surgery.. I would too big of drinks.. now I can easily get 90oz a day of fluids 16 days post op.. you can get your fluids in with a buillion cube drink to keep your electrolytes up, sugar free popsicles, sugar free drinks... Just always stay hydrated and you'll be fine [emoji846]

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
