Nausea from protein shakes/powder

I am two weeks plus post op and I had my first case of nausea. It was after my shake. I can't stand the taste anymore. I drink those Protein Premiers. So done, curious about self made shakes, I have the powder.

I really like the nectar Protein Drinks. When I told my doctor I was upswing that brand he was thrilled. Apparently his office used to use it with great results. If you like chocolate the truffle one is amazing, it does not taste like truffles to me just chocolate but better then the other drinks I tried. Boost is what my husband uses he does weight lifting but they are really heavy and I have not even had surgery yet. Hope you find something that works for you.

My doctor's office uses them too! I'm doing testing right now but they want me to have them often to make sure my stomach is good with them since I've had issues with milk/whey in the past. I agree, they're AMAZING! They're not gritty at all and most of the flavors I've tried so far are fantastic. (I didn't care for cappuccino.). nectar is by far the way to go!

Syntrax Nectars and matrix are definitely some of my favorites. I use the unflavored one in lots of stuff to boost the Protein content. You can mix it with unsweetened applesauce pretty well. The lemonade one is great blended with Water and ice.

I've really had a hard time getting the way notifications work for some reason so I didn't see a lot of your replies until now. 😶 I bought several trial packs of nectar when I went for my pre-op testing. I've really enjoyed some of them & some not so much. I like the fruity ones that I can mix in Water best. I'm able to do the unflavored Isopure whey Protein isolate without issue so I think I'm going to stick to that & protein water. I'll probably add a Protein Shake every once in a while. Thank you all for your advice and commiseration! I hope all of us who are having trouble figure out what works best for us soon!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
