I started 2 weeks before surgery.

I was supposed to be on 3 Protein Shakes a day, which I did most of the time, but there were days (near the end of the two weeks especially) that I only managed to take in 2 shakes...which was weird. Other than Water, didn't have anything else.

Also, I didn't have any issues with low blood sugar...at least nothing noticeable.

two weeks Never cheated. No blood sugar issues.

I could have 4-5 Protein Shakes a day, all the no- and super-low calories fluids I wanted (e.g., Crystal Light, water), SF popsicles, SF Jello, and a limited amount of clear broth and V8 or Tomato juice.

I had a 2-week pre-op liquid diet. The first week, I was allowed 3 Protein Shakes plus one small meal (under 350 calories, no rice or pasta) per day. The second week was all liquid, 4 Protein shakes per day. I never cheated, but I was not able to drink as many protein shakes as I was supposed to due to bloating.

Only the day before surgery, clear liquids only. Didn't have one post op, either, though things were mostly liquid at first, other soft and mushy things were acceptable, too.

I had my liquid diet two weeks prior but it included 1 meal, Protein and 1-2 cups of veggies. I know the first day, I had to eat half my protein at 2:30. I ate later my other half with veggies After that I was able to drink two protien shakes and make it till 5 for dinner. I cheated with egg drop Soup twice I think. I was also able to drink homemade broth so that kept me from starving kinda. If you want a bite try 1 spoon of what you are craving. Just to get it out of your system. I see nothing wrong.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
