I had trouble too. I still do & I used to drink a lot of Water so this is weird for me. Hasn’t stopped me peeing all day & night though lol!

I added extra water to all my shakes, Soups, purées etc. as I progressed through the stages. That way I was getting more Fluid in as all liquids count towards your 64oz daily requirement. I drank green tea, high Protein drinking yogurt & kept a bottle of water on my desk at work, in my kitchen, by my bed, in my car, by my lounge so there’s always water at hand. Still do. I also used a straw (ssshhhh - I know I wasn’t being environmentally aware) because it was easier to sip that way.

Eventually you’ll be able to drink more than a sip at a time but even 14months out I struggle with more than a mouthful at a time.

I can’t wait! I am so scared not to mess my stitches up so I’m worried about drinking too much at one time! I can’t wait til it’s fully healed and I can drink more than sips at a time! I have been doing really bad because my diet plan from doctor doesn’t allow Soup with juice, in at the stage right now where I can only have eggs, tuna fish right now.

my Water intake is too 27 ounces a day and In only peeing like 3 times a day😕.

Your lack of Water intake seems based more on fear than anything else.

So think about this... it take 2 - 4 grams of water to mobilize 1 gram of fat (this is the real reason it is drummed into every bariatric patient to GET YOUR FLUIDS). If you DONT get enough Fluid, you will severely hamper your ability to mobilize/lose adipose tissue - with the added bonus of ending up in hospital from dehydration. CHANGE your habits, that's the only thing keeping you from getting enough fluids.

Try drinking things that aren’t Water to get to your mark- broth, tea, Decaf coffee, Powerade zero or see if you’re allowed crystal light.

For me the big thing was changing the flavor up so I’m not bored with getting in my fluids. Right now I’m drinking tea with lemon and Powerade zero even almost 7 months out. You can do it!

If you really need it try getting a water reminder that beeps at you every so often to remind you to drink.

At that early stage when I was still sipping, I found tips and tricks to force me to drink. I was still off work so anytime a commercial came on TV, I took several sips. Anytime I saw someone else drink (no matter the circumstance), I took a drink. Not sure if there are things you can use to help remember? Maybe every time someone on a call says "I think you are on mute". Kind of a really boring version of a drinking game :)

I agree, I feel like once the 6 weeks is up and I know I can’t rupture staples inside I will feel more confident. I appreciate your comment! Thank you.

I know that it's hard for me to remember to drink Water, and will be even harder post surgery to remember to drink enough when I can't drink several ounces at one time so I treated myself to this. https://www.h2opal.com/ I have been getting my goal every day since I have my own personal water trainer. I was worried the glass would break but so far I've been using it 2 months and still going great.

Does the water stay cold? I guess it senses and sends reminders to your phone? I might have to invest! Thank you!

I am not in a warm climate so it's hard to tell how well it would stay cold, but it doesn't sweat. It does autosense how much you drink, and doesn't remind unless you get off track. Here are some screen shots from the app. You can take the app's recommendations on how much water to drink, and if you tell it where you live, it will adjust for the weather (hotter = drink more), and if you connect your fitness tracker to it, it will adjust for your activity. Oh, and it also will write to Apple Health.

I have the same isssue. I actually went to the ER last night because I was dehydrated and it caused my BP to go super low. I was instructed to drink 1 oz every 15 minutes. But I just take small sips and that seems to be helping. I also drink broth twice a day and had a couple sugar free popsicles.

What helps me is I take a 28 oz bottle of Powerade zero on a 3 mile walk each morning. I sip while walking m. It seems like I get more in that way and an hour later I have my first 28 oz in. When I don’t want to drink anymore I eat sugar free popsicles . My doctor wants me to drink 96 oz of Water. I get up before work to walk because it’s too hot during the day. I hate waking up at 5:00 am but it’s the only way I can get my water goals in. Surgery date was 6/15. Good luck!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
