You need to keep high Protein Shakes handy for when this happens. Often times you can mistake hunger for being thirsty and the Protein will no doubt be needed anyway.

I can only speak about sleeve, but it was normal. I had mad cravings for the first 10 days'ish & I'd "think" I was hungry when I really wasn't. I read somewhere that it is just your brain not correlating to your new stomach yet. Your mind and body has to adjust.

Your brain still thinks you can eat whatever you want.

Yes, it DEFINITELY goes away with time. Don't worry!

I’m a bit over 3 months post op, have gone through many stages re: hunger—and see that it will likely continue to change. This early out, no “stage” is likely an indicator of how things will be permanently, even semi permanently, so relax, go with the flow and listen to your body.

Examples...early on, I had same as you describe now, felt like and probably was real hunger. I sipped clear raspberry Protein Drink, Bone Broth, and my allowed foods. It passed.

Gradually eased to no real hunger, but ate because of acidic feeling and rumbling in tummy. Now, I’ve been released/advised to eat 1,000 cal daily and any food I can tolerate (focus on best nutrition bang for the buck) so have experimented in bites of tasty, too, to see how well I tolerate. Tried 2 bites of hubby’s taco, oh no, not the same as I recall, chest felt full and did not want another bite, (fat/rich...i will be sick) not eager to do it again. Quesadilla bite, same. Foods that I used to really, really enjoy, my body now rejects.

I’m glad it’s doing its “tool thingy”, but it’s a mourning, as well. My pouch definitely feels great restriction when I try to eat any restaurant take out. I looked at his fries last week, wanting to taste one, and my body said don’t even think about it—gross, sick, greasy. My best advice? Listen to your body, don’t try to over rule nor over ride your pouch. There is definitely a new sheriff in town, and mournful or not, it is what I wanted.💃

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
