We had surgery very close to each other!

I’m finding projects to keep myself busy. Do you have a Fitbit or use any kind of device like that? I also track everything I eat in my fitness pal. I find both very useful and it helps keep me moving and accountable . I’ve gained 1-2 pounds this month so I’m keeping a close eye on that. I keep around 1300 calories a day, but I’ve let that tick up a bit and I found out I gain VERY easily, so I have to stay vigilant.

Frozen bananas blended with almond milk is a great snack/dessert. I also always have a big box of seedless grapes in my fridge for when I get in a fidgety eating mood.

I’m having trouble trying to not snack during the day. Plus I’m not moving as much and just kinda laying everywhere. I notice when I make myself get up to do something. Like yard work or house work I feel better and the scale turns in my favor. It’s hard and this is not an ideal situation. All we can do is try our best. ❤️

I get up, shower and put on workout clothes in the morning, increasing my chances of working out later. I've been doing Pilates class via Zoom and then running my dogs around the neighborhood, which helps keep us all sane.

I try to keep a lot of "good" Snacks around like string cheese, Greek yogurt Built Bars, etc. so when I go for a snack it's not junk.

My goal for the pandemic is maintenance. No need to put more stress on myself, but that's just the way my brain works.

I track everything I eat, as I always have. I keep raw veggies and grapes in my fridge, as well as some sugar free breath mints and some fun zero- and low-calorie beverages around, in case the urge gets overwhelming (I'm not a gum chewer, but if I were, I'd keep a bunch of gum flavors around, too). I also take a walk most days - and I do weights in my basement 2-3x a week. There are lots of workouts on youtube, too - I've only done a handful of yoga and weight lifting ones, but there are tons - cardio, weights, etc.

I am working from home and playing FV2 to pass the time. Still living on cottage cheese, greek yogurt, shrimp cocktail, Protein Shakes and filet mignon and asparagus. If I want a snack, that's cashews or raw veggis with my zero cal/carb ranch dressing. Really boring as far as diet goes, but I have lost 58 lbs without any exercising since the week before Thanksgiving, just modified my dietary habits radically, gave up carbs which used to be my favorite food group and any alcohol. I didn't go out much before other than to work, since I had my surgery, I couldn't eat in restaurants anyway so I wasn't going anywhere anyway so this stay home thing doesn't represent that much of a change for me other than no longer leaving to go to work.

If you are able to go grocery shopping. I would highly recommend getting tons of flavored tuna packs, low sodium turkey slices, 1%milkfat cottage cheese and shrimp. High Protein with little carbs. These are my staple protein go-tos. That and tons of Water.

The strategy that works for me is following an eating schedule (breakfast 8am, lunch 12pm, snack 3pm, dinner 6pm). With an eating schedule in place, any time I think about eating (is this boredom? is this a craving? is this hunger?) there's no need to make a decision about whether or not to eat. Having to ask these questions throughout the day is tedious and leaves too much room for error. When I follow an eating schedule, every time I think about eating, I just look at the clock. If it’s time to eat, I eat. If it’s not time to eat, I don’t eat. Period. I never have to worry about figuring out whether it’s hunger, or a craving, or boredom. It simply doesn’t matter why I might want to eat.

Following the schedule places restrictions on when I can eat, which is incredibly liberating because it frees me from ever having to make any food decisions. If I ever feel like eating at an unscheduled time, I just remind myself that my next meal or snack isn’t far away, and I find something else to do until that time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
