Gas, Gas and More Gas

Recommended Posts

Do anyone have any suggestions on how to keep gas off of your stomach? I have been eating a great deal of salads I purchase from Walmart (marketside chopped salad mix) that have cabbage, spinach, broccoli and many other nutritious vegetable in it but it gives me awful gas pains and gas period. I have tried Gas-x maximum strength and it helps some but do anyone suggest another alternative, should I take something like a Bean-o before eating! It is embarrassing because it smells so bad! I am 3mths post-op and have been doing great! I am just embarrassed by the stench and thank goodness for PooPourri toilet spray! #staysafemyfriends

Perhaps give the raw salad veges a miss for a little while see if that helps. If the gas stops you know that the raw veges are possibly the culprit.

Cabbage, broccoli, cauli, brussel sprouts plus some others are probably the gassy culprits.

This is why I avoid these vegetables!!! Even before surgery they caused too many issues for me, and I'll be avoiding them as much as I can once I can start eating those kinds of vegetables again (cooked or raw). Lettuces and spinach are fine, but the gassy veggies are not worth the pain and gas that comes afterwards.

I'm extremely gassy and I'm not consuming vegetables until this upcoming week. My issue will be that cruciferous vegetables are my favorite, especially broccoli. I will have to find other vegetables to eat for awhile, until I'm further along the journey. Today makes 1 month post op for me, let's see how it goes.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
