Can I ask yall a question?

I swear I'm not marketing anything, I just had this amazing idea. Maybe it's not so amazing, I'd just love feedback because this is something I'm struggling with.

Tuesday will be 3 weeks since my surgery. I've struggled keeping things down and knowing when I'm "full". I noticed there is nothing that is 3-4oz (the size of my stomach) on the shelves. Lots of waste. Especially like frozen food that's healthy and convenient. Would any of you ever be interested in frozen meals that are approx. The size of your stomach that would be healthy, delicious and convenient?

I'm just curious if I'm onto something or if there would even be a market for this?

Delete if not allowed, but I'm so intrigued.

(KEVIN O'Leary voice) What's wrong with regular sized meals that you can save for leftovers?

Go for it, many ppl with various health concerns and issues could benefit from meals marketed for smaller appetites and nutritional benefits. Bariatric, cancer, heart and other patients. Copyright your idea and the best of luck to you. I always talk about a restaurant for smaller appetites ( vsg /bariatric and preop) patients. During preop it was a task when I needed to be out and about.

I am a chef and looked into this = Problem is food costs, Packaging and shipping would eat you up. It would be more cost effective to Keep portion size the same and a WLS patient gets two or three meals from it. The cost per meal would be almost the same but the portion would be Small or half the size,

However to make 4 small meals in one package One tray divided into 4 meals actually would work. One labor, One package, One shipping

Best money spent ever...... FoodSaver. When my husband is home he/we cook and there is always leftovers. I portion out my lunch for every day. This machine is a lifesaver. If you don't have one... GET ONE!!!! Also, buy the small paper plates (6"). Portion out on the plate and vacuum seal it. label it and and put a date. I either keep in the fridge or freezer. When we dine out, i take my leftovers home and do the same. If i have left over Soup, i just seal it in the bag.

The next day or a week later or longer... (last forever it seems). I put one meal in my lunch bag and poop it in the microwave with a small slit.... done.

They already have that...it's called French Nouvelle Cuisine. :D Or also "tasting menus". Hehehe. See also, shrimp cocktail...

Maybe not on the shelf's at this time but there is a local meal prep service that has an option for Bariatric customers who are up to eating solid foods. The meals are of course very small, but the variety and packaging look interesting until you see the price. It would be much cheaper to purchase small food containers, cook a couple of meals that fit the correct combination of fat / carb proportion the cooked meals among the containers for a weeks worth of food.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
