Supposedly only 30% of RNY patients dump. And for those who do, it can be controlled by avoiding or limiting sugar intake. I've never dumped - and I don't know very many people who do.

Thanks everyone. I don’t remember even asking about dumping lmaooooo I was half asleep I guess lol

Dumping is vomitting or the other day around.

and why does it happen anyways?
I know what Bypass is and how does that change the way I’ll eat.

I better do some research.

That word seems to get thrown around a lot, but true dumping is when too much sugar hits your small intestine at one time and your body goes into overdrive to deal with it. People sweat, get diarrhea, get the shakes, get dizzy, have a rapid heartbeat. Some people do vomit or feel nauseated. Evidently it can last for awhile.

It happens to about 30% of RNY patients (I've never had it, thankfully) - but it can be controlled to a large extend by avoiding or severely limiting sugar.

Oh Wow.
I’ve had “slider” Issues with the sleeve.
that was due to a few bad choices. My own fault 🙂

I always saw a bypass as never eating again. LOL! I recall many many years ago people having it and never eating a meal again that wasn’t liquid. Guess not.

i has a friend who revised due to her stomach flipping ... she won’t admit the revision but her son slipped up and told us. She doesn’t want people to know as she didn’t or hasn’t lost anymore weight from her original sleeve. Unsure what she’s hiding.

did you lose any weight w the revision? As long as I get rid of the heartburn and feel good everyday. I can’t take it.

This liquid diet today isn’t fun so I hope it’s worth it.

oh we can eat - unfortunately!!

Mine wasn't a revision - it was an original surgery. I had it because I had GERD prior to surgery - RNY usually improves if not outright cures GERD (did mine!).

I lost over 200 lbs - but again, it wasn't a revision.

original surgery means it's the only weight loss surgery I've had. A revision surgery means you've already had a weight loss surgery before getting this one.

mine was laproscopic. I think endo is a new technique (they didn't do that when I had my surgery five years ago).

Yup... just curious if it's done the same way - I mean, I have a hernia being repaired too, umbilical, so maybe they'll do lapo instead of endo.. I will have to ask, regardless, they overturned it, Thank God, with no help from my surgeon's office.. I had to send in EOB from my last surgery, which was hard to get, they purge systems, etc. My clinical were never sent in with the revision request -- had to get 2014 medical records. I did it all myself and faxed things in ... coordinator was on vacation, he'll see when he gets back that I did it all :) we are moving forward!

Maybe theyll do endo. hope so!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
