Stomach feels sickly

Recommended Posts

I am 23 days post op and on soft foods now per my doc. Ever since surgery, when I eat, my stomach never feels settled or “normal”. I wouldn’t say I’m nauseous, but it’s close to it. I can only eat very little. A few ounces at most so I’m not over eating. I’m waiting 30-1 hour before drinking fluids again. I thought eating soft foods might make my stomach feel “normal” again but it hasn’t. Is this just because my stomach is still healing you think? I force myself to eat because I know I need to, but my stomach feels the same before I eat and after I eat. It’s hard to explain. I can only say that it does not feel like a normal stomach feels if that makes sense🤣 Most people say they feel “normal” after 2-3 weeks. I always feel sickly, but not to the point of throw up. Any advice or similar experiences are greatly appreciated. I see my doc for follow up on Wednesday. Also, I am a revision patient. Lap Band to Sleeve.

Sounds pretty close to my experience as well. There is a new normal now :) The old normal led to obesity so you want to leave that behind.

At about 3 weeks I missed just chewing food too and even if I could not eat/drink more it didn’t click in my brain that I was full. My mind was still demanding full plates of foods.

Every time I introduced a new food was an adventure too...sometimes it just didn’t stay down, but most of the time it would just make my stomach sort of quiver and feel uneasy.

Go slow and embrace the change—there are new cues/signals to learn. Initially you have to consciously remind yourself to eat because your body’s hormonal signals are disrupted. Look for the new signals and practice mindful eating to learn the new feelings/signals and proper portioning.

I’m nearly a year out and had brown rice tonight... I’m not exactly sick but I don’t feel “well”. My stomach is talking to me and it is like I can feel it move through me. Breads/pasta will do the same thing so I avoid them.

So I found that full feels way different with my new tummy.
With the band you knew when you couldnt eat anymore.
But with my loop ds I really have to be careful.

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
