Hi everyone! I am nearly at my 5 month nutritional weigh in. I struggled in the first 4 months as I had spine surgery and on restrictions. However, I wanted to see what advise and tips that worked for everyone to help them loose weight and not back track? How did you overcome your cravings etc? Of course iam still working with my nutritionist with a plan catered to my needs, but ive had slip ups and I'm discouraged. I appreciate all your advised yall could share. Thank you!

Slip-ups are normal because we're human and we didn't get to our larger sizes by eating too much salad. LOL! Stick to the program of focusing on Protein, get your Water in, and have healthy Snacks available.

Thank you GradyCat. I appreciate the great advise, and to just jump back on the wagon. As you said "we are all human". I need to be reminded that we do make mistakes but not to give up. Thank you for your feedback.

Setbacks are normal, no one is perfect, if we were, then we would not need the surgery. Recently my current PCP provided a prescription for Contrave to help control my appetite, unfortunately after 2 weeks I feel no difference. I have been on several different weight loss prescriptions over the last couple of years and unfortunately no long term changes either. The only thing that really worked for me was being active in Weight Watchers, going to the weekly meetings and actively participating in the support groups. Although I am going the self-pay route to avoid the insurance company BS my PCP wants me to loose about 20 to 30 pounds before usury. I plan to rejoin Weight Watchers a month or two post opp when I am back to eating somewhat normal.

As far as Contrave controlling your appetite. I think it is more likely to stop binge eating as it discourages OCD behavior. I am on Bupropion which is one of the ingredients and bupropion and it has helped me stay on track for years.

I have personally been using the Keto diet to lose weight and it's been pretty 'easy' on most days. Low carb means I can't enjoy the Pasta and bread, but high Protein and fat means I can still have a ton of other things. My normal daily diet, as of late, is usually a vanilla Protein Shake for Breakfast, tuna with some mayo, Sriracha, and lemon juice for lunch, and low-fat yogurt for dinner. Though, there are a ton of options -- these are just work for me and lets me hit my macros that I need.

I have slipped up, but it's realizing that its one mistake and that isn't going to define your success in weight loss, is huge. You can take that mistake and continue making more, eating bad for the rest of the day, week, month, etc.. and then you will be right back where you start. The other option? Realize that you had a weak moment, don't get down on yourself too much, and move on with the RIGHT foods. You can do this!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
