Decaf coffee should be fine. My doc even lets us have regular, as long as it's not excessive! It's not easy to find a great tasting decaf...I had one at Starbucks and I usually hate their coffee, but it was a Pike Place decaf and it tasted pretty good-maybe because it was my first cup of coffee following surgery!

I've started drinking it a lot these last few weeks with no issues that I can tell.. It helps me with my energy levels and curbs my hunger at times :)

I just buy the instant stuff from the supermarkets not like Starbucks so no sugar..

it seems like I could start drinking Decaf fairly quickly after surgery - I may have been about a month out (I had to wait six months before I could drink caffeinated). Some surgeons aren't as restrictive - some let you drink both right away.

My doc has no issues with coffee. My go to Breakfast every morning is a Starbucks nitro brew mixed in with my Premier Protein shake.

I find the Cafe Latte Slimfast Protein Shakes make you feel just like you’ve had coffee, and helps to up your Protein intake . I do drink de caff coffee too but not a lot . It’s always been on the paperwork I was given from the hospital as a can have .

I drank coffee days after my surgery - doc said it was fine. There’s only so much I can give up and I love my coffee.

Some docs say no to it because caffeinated beverages can have a mild diuretic effect ( although more recent studies show this is less than previously thought). Mine said as long as I’m getting my daily allotment of non caffeinated beverages my daily coffee is just fine.

Because there is no gold standard.

Recommendations regarding diet differ from country to country and from hospital to hospital. Experience based, not evidence based.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
