I have done a great job of listening to my body. Since surgery I have developed a habit of sneezing just before I am full. My sneeze is the warning sign to stop. After that its 1/2 more bites at max. I am never concerned with overeating at meals but with the sleeve you can eat around it by snacking which was never a weakness for me but its enough to stall weight loss.

While I have spent the past 2 months in a stall the past two weeks I have found myself snacking a lot more partly because I am no longer seeing the results. I am aware its happening and am trying to stop it early.

My confession

I am a chocolate and Peanut Butter *****.

Now that I said it in public forum I feel better but I dont want it to interfere with the weight loss. Burn me at the stake I am a WLS sinner and going to hell.

I feel your pain! I am stalling on and of and it is beginning to really frustrate me! I have upped my calories and my Water intake is at least 60 oz a day if not more. I think the answer for me might be exercise. Please dont be too discouraged!

Don't be so hard on your self..... we are all sinners....

First part of fixing a problem is admitting there is one. So now that you know and WE all know.... Fix that Sh!t...!!!

Me too, I started at Halloween with some candy and then now at holiday times got a tin of those European chocolate Cookies at Sam's. But now I'm done. Been back on the wagon for 4 days.

@Brent701 I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I can relate and feel your "pain". LOL. Confession is good for the soul.

Snacking and snacking on poor-ish choices (wouldn't call some kinds of chocolate and Peanut Butter poor choices exactly...but it's easy to overeat them) is often difficult to control--especially once you hit the sophomore skid: diet fatigue, a fully mature pouch that begins to hold more food at a meal or in shorter intervals, the scale isn't moving quickly, so motivation dulldroms set in, life picks up socially and presents more options to stray, etc.

It's one of the reason vets taught me early on to use the time wisely to build new habits and neural networks with food. It's cuz I see that propensity in myself that I'm so hard core about it to newbies. And I trust Dr. Weiner (youtube) who says WLS has 2 myths: the myth of restriction and the myth of malabsorption. Both of those are expected and desired to lessen over time.

I think it is awesome and courageous that you recognize you are beginning to learn the tricky ways around your tool and to stop it before damage is done.

So according to fluffy chocolate and Peanut Butter are not true bad choices? Glad to here that so now i can eat 400 receese cups and still be on my WLS program.

Now back to the facts - I actually use peanut butter powder in my Protein Shakes to get the taste, also use the chocolate premier protien with peanut butter.

I agree I HATE THE F#$CKIN HOLIDAYS TO MUCH JUNK AROUND

Hahaha. I do use peanut butter powder in my shakes and reconstituted. My pouch likes it better than the heavier full fat one. :) I also think a square of dark 80-90% Lindt is not a crime. I find it much harder to eat a ton of those squares. One is enough, especially smeared with reconstituted peanut butter.

(SECRET: Don't judge me...I use the Walden Farms Marshmallow Dip to reconstitute the vitacost Peanut Butter Slim Peanut Butter Powder. It tastes like Fluffernutter. :D And it's about 50cals for 3-4 tbsp. It's great on a square of 90% Lindt and also on Granny Smith apples. :) All for around 100 cals for a snack. Not too much damage. Right?)

You are soooooo close to your goal - CONGRATS- which is why weight loss has probably stalled for you, BUT I totally get it since I also am a person who needs results to spur me forward. Its the A+ on the scaled when you drop weight that makes you want to keep going because its a feedback loop so its so hard when you are on track and dont see results. That said, you are not a sinner, you are human and its about being consistent. So if yesterday was a crappy day, today - one meal at a time- try to make it a good day. And worst case scenario- and not everyone might agree with this- I try to find "emergency treats" to have on hand in the house that aren't as bad as real treats, that I can have guilt free that won't harm my diet. I love chocolate too so i got chocorite chocolates and each packet has two "peanutbuttter cups" in it. they are Keto Snacks with low sugar but still fulfill my sweet tooth so if I have to have chocolate i grab one of those and i dont feel guilty because its so low cal and low sugar. That said, if you are the type to eat four of those then thats not good BUT if it just takes a little to take the edge off I think they are worth having. I have also made my own sugar free Peanut Butter cups (super easy to make) with Lilys chocolates and PB fit powder and i freeze them. They are super cheap to make and each one has about 25 calories and one takes the sweet tooth away. This way stay on plan 99.9 percent of the time and if you need a small treat- have it without guilt. Holidays are hard, this is hard, very very hard but you can do this!!!

Sounds great! and it doesn’t upset your stomach ?? ohhhh ........I knew it was too good to be true - I bet we can’t get peanut butter powder and marshmallow dip here- I’m in the UK !😕

Need to go back to my old motto nobody got fat eating a reeses cup they got fat from having the whole bag.

That’s true! And don’t be too hard on yourself, you’re not the first person and you won’t be the last , and I bet a lot of people are not as honest about it you. We’re all going to do it at some point at least once .

Yep. Agreed. But that's assuming that any of us who became MO have the ability to eat just one Reese's. Especially when life happens...

I take it as not cheating, it's a conscious decision. I do food log everything, I put in my mouth. For Halloween someone passed around some kisses. I grabbed 2 and scanned the bag, and put down the 2 in my food log for the day. I only ended up eating one, and I savor that moment using a mindful eating technique I learned in my pre-op classes. The other I had the next day, and adjusted the food log for that day.

I dont ever want to go back to where I was but part of why I wanted the surgery was for the natural reminder to stop eating not so I made eating a chore. Nothing wrong with the measure weigh and log community but its something I detest.

Im still searching for those that have achieved long term results with a balanced approach.

      Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

      Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
