I can't say that I have run into that yet. My surgical team is thrilled with every pound I lose in this pre-operative journey. My answer to a comment such as that would be, thank you for noticing that I'm losing, I'm on a medically supervised diet and exercise program and have been working really hard. While it is exciting to have lost a little bit, my team reminds me that the reason I'm having surgery in the first place is because I need another tool to add to my arsenal in order to make my weight loss goals a reality and to make them stick. I know you want me to be healthy and I appreciate your support.

Yeah, I guess you could say, I've thought about this kind of reaction a lot over the last several weeks. LOL!

I needed the surgery. I'd lost anywhere from 20-60 lbs countless times before (and I had over 200 to lose at my heaviest). The problem was, it always came back. This is the first time I've been able to take off all of my excess weight - and keep it off!

Yea right your not here with the rest of us because you anorexic or bolemick - I am sure non of us have every lost 10 pounds to never gain it back.

My view Not a chance in hell i would loose over 100 pounds in 4 months if i could still slamm vodka eat at happy hour and live my old lifestyle. Also its nobody's business what you decide you are doing this for yourself and only yourself,

I lost over 20 pounds pre-op and was actually getting close to no longer qualifying for surgery and my surgeons were ecstatic! Every pound off before surgery is one pound closer to a safer surgical procedure.

I had my own thoughts that maybe I didn't need to go through surgery since I was doing so well, but then I remembered I've lost 20 pounds a million other times and never kept it off myself, this tool will be essential to me keeping the weight off. Plus, I had a gastric band I really wanted out, so revising was my only hope.

If someone in my life had told me that, I'd just tell them that it's a requirement for me to make my lifestyle changes now and to try to get some weight off for a safer surgical procedure. Then I'd tell them that I have multiple healthcare professionals expressing their feelings that I need the procedure to live my healthiest life and I trust they know what they are recommending to me.

Ultimately, it's no one's business and you don't have to answer to anyone but your surgeon.

I watch a series on youtube called fat doctors. It is about surgery on morbidly obese patiens in the UK. This doctor, Shaw Summers, is the most empatic person I ever have seen on tv.

For every episode he tries to explain why obesity can't be faught with just diet in most cases. Obese patiens can sucessfully loose a few pounds, but the body itself needs more calories and it will always tell them to eat more and more and more. So they wind up jojo-dieting and each time they loose a bit they regain a bit more, slowly loosing the willpower and selfeestem which again tells them to eat more.

I really enjoyed watching the fat doctor episodes, I wish there were more of them.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
