I am six months after RnY surgery and everything is going well. I'm happy with my weight loss and feel great. One continuing issue, however, is that my voice has become weak. All of my friends and family have told me that I speak much more softly since the surgery, and there are days when my voice is so shot by the end of the day that I can barely speak. Has anyone else encountered this?

I've felt a small change in my voice but nothing like what you've mentioned. I think that when you lose a lot of weight your vocal system could become more fragile and maybe that's what you're experiencing. I still think you should maybe talk to your PCP about it just to make sure it's not anything else.

And mine they believe is due to all the endoscopies I have had done- 14 at last count- vocal cords got a little trauma from all that tubing going through repeatedly. The Blessing: along with all the other portions of ME that got smaller, I now have an "indoor" voice , no more Ms Big Mouth for ME.

I would definitely get this checked out. So long after surgery, your vocal cords really should have recovered.

Always best to get checked and it = nothing than ignoring things and they = something :)

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
