Can you give examples of healthy fats and veggies and fruits to be eating?

Here you go. I just eat minimally of fats except the fat inherently in the food and a tiny bit of olive oil spray. Most of my fat is in the meat, or in a few nuts, or in an ounce of avocado. I have any other fat from my ass to feed me. :) No need to put it in my body and have to burn it off as energy first before I can burn my ass fat.

This comes from Dr. Ben Bickman. You can YouTube him. He's brilliant. Approved-Foods-List_InsulinIQ_BenBikman.pdf

I'm eating tuna and salmon (small cans) and Protein Shakes atm preop :)

My doctor told me pre-op that I needed to be eating around 1500cals, so my body would get the advantage of a sudden drop in calories after the surgery. Make sure you are getting enough cals/nutrition in right now so that you do lose weight, but aren't starving or the surgery might not be as effective. You want your metabolism amped up still.

Here's a good link to healthy low glycemic selections of all kinds of food (scroll down to see fruits, fats, meats, etc):

I think I'm around 1000cal a day and maybe 100g Protein very low carb. No sugar.

(The high protein actually makes me full quick)

Isn't the actual preop shake diet like 600cal?

& I thought post op would be around 500cal for the first month at least? Plus the RNY offers the Malabsorption component?

Yes. I'm just telling you that she made me go up to 1500 cals on the 6months leading into surgery. Then 2 weeks before the surgery, I went on the pre-op liquid diet that had up to 1000cals/day 80-100g of protein, low low carb (shakes only with broth, sf Jello, sf popsicles). After surgery, I was having around 300-500 cals in that 2 weeks after surgery.

I was trying to eat like a bariatric patient. She told me that she needed me to eat to lose weight, but that I needed to be up around 1500cals. Cuz I was only eating 800-900 cals at the time. She wanted my metabolism going stronger so there was more of a shock to it after the surgery. You would still lose weight at 1500 cals in a Weight Watchers style diet...especially as a dude.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
