List of things that will keep me motivated

Recommended Posts

Just thinking of all the times I felt embarrassed & ashamed of my weight. All the times my weight held me back from jumping into life with both feet. All the pics that I saw of myself & I was mortified when I thought those were my best outfits & thought I looked good.
Boating.... when my ex would ask me why I was hiding out below in the cabin.
Taking pics with my beautiful grandchildren & hiding out behind everyone so all you’d see is my face.
Not going to HS reunions because no one would recognize me. I thought I was a little overweight in HS but ha!!! I looked great.
People that I grew up with have a bar that they all get together at . I won’t go. I see all the pics on FB & would love to see some of my childhood best friends.
Can’t go skiing. Can’t play tennis. Can’t ride horses.
I’m going to keep a list & refer to it every time I feel like giving up. I’ll remember all the pain that being overweight has caused me physically, mentally & emotionally. Every time I want to eat something bad I’ll remember the prison I’ve lived in for the last few years!!!

Love this! I have had all the same thoughts too and it does help to reflect when I’m frustrated.

Anything that keeps you accountable🙂.

Exactly there are so many reasons to get surgery that far outweigh any negative

I so get this! Except it is a bar my husband and eldest daughter like to go as they are both crazy about beer. I have been to ashamed of how I look to even want to show up . I just have become so incredibly large and somehow I was still semi-blind to the magnitude and then a picture would come up that someone managed to snag and I was even more horrified.

I'm also afraid to buy any tickets to concerts and bands coming through (Like Queen in October) as I'm afraid I won't fit in the seats. Flying on Southwest at X-mas and had to buy an extra seat. Afraid of trying new restaurants until I have been able to 'scope out their seating arrangements'. Had too many times I've been OBVIOUSLY stuck when trying to sit in a booth...I won't even try it...at least NOT YET.

I had accepted for a brief period that my life was going to be defined on my large physical mass...and then I realized I could NOT keep living this way. Trapped. Like you said...in prison

Oh Karen and Chiptress,

What a whole new life awaits you! Being able to slide past people in narrow places, able to lean and reach over the bed or furniture, sitting in a chair and you can see the chair on both sides of your legs, being able to cross your legs, not having your thighs rub together, not having the red rashes and fungal rashes under skin folds during the summer, feeling COLD!, being the smallest person in the room instead of the biggest, buying cute clothes in the regular department instead of the Plus size, being able to fit comfortably with room to spare in any restaurant booth, happily standing in the FRONT row for pictures, actually going wearing a swim suit and going into the pool like everyone else, and yes hiking, walking, riding a horse, kayaking, and being able to do anything you darn well please!

Commit wholly to the new lifestyle! Gradually add new exercise routines and stick with the food plan. Tell yourself, "I AM NEVER GOING BACK!" You gals are going to do great and a year from now you will be amazed at the "new you!"

As a man I can't wait to be able to buy decent clothing like from good brands and stuff because currently they don't cater to big and tall..

Too be able to run around with nieces and nephews without getting a heart attack...

Being able to go out on the town without dying

Too finally have ladies attention ;)

What a great topic! Thank you! Chiptress, my list is almost identical to yours. We must be cell-mates! It's great on the outside! When is your surgery?

I hope everyone is having a lovely week so far!
It's been a bit of a struggle this last week...I'm hungry ALL the time.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
