OMG! We literally lived about 500m away from from each other. I knew I recognised that view. πŸ˜‚ You were in the Cutters Landing complex & I was in Freshwater on the western side of Admiralty House. Mind blown! I lived there from 1999 - 2014 when I then bought my house β€˜down the road’ on the hill at Teneriffe. My apartment faced Admiralty House which was between our two complexes. We probably passed each other roaming around the suburb or at the Powerhouse Markets.

Yep, the Flood installation is still there & it’s still being climbed upon by young people. They have a Brisbane one on the river at QPAC now too.

Your tree is amazing. It’s so tall. Who gets to climb the ladder to put the decorations on the top half? I know neither you nor I could reach - tee hee.

Met up with my maternal aunts & uncles for lunch today. Just wearing a little but of black. Ha! I’m finding my size 6 pants (US 2) are all a little loosish & are bagging in places & not falling nicely. Sigh!

How COOL that you were neighbors and didn't even know it! What a small world, right!? Okay, then. I am flying over to borrow this beautiful blouse. As you know, I love eyelet and black! You'd be right...time for size 4 slacks. These are my size 4 faded jeans for lunch today with a good friend. Finally cooler to wear denim for our Florida winters. Yay!

I haven't felt like using nice clothes because... bleh nowhere to go. But I couldn't resist buying this sweater dress because of the bell sleeves (and hem- not shown)

This dress is an XL which is a little too loose in the bust , upper waist & arms perfect everywhere else!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I opted for a softer, more gentler theme for 2020 given the rather harsh, almost cruel year. Christmas tree fashion show continues... Jake, don't forget to share your bachelor's pad festive decorations. You, too, Silly Kitty, Cheeseburgh, wishmesmaller and others! Fun. Green Tealael, do you decorate for Happy Hanukkah? Do share! Tree's not necessary... let' s just spread the cheer! Hugs.

Yay Size Tens!!! (you could probably go smaller, though ;) )

I am loving your jacket (the colour!), but is it cold enough to need it in Nevada? Because its plenty cold here and I could use a nice-wine coloured jacket to add my wardrobe.

P.S. If that is your definition of chaos, I'd hate to show you my office!

Although, I would be willing to give you my spot in line to borrow/take the other black top @Arabesque got at the Witching (Witchcraft? Witchery? I KNOW I'm getting the name wrong, but close enough, i think) store.

Is it bad that I have mentally catalogued her closet???

I definitely cannot go smaller as I lack a waist, and any smaller they will cut me in half. Lol. Jacket is an XL from β€œbefore” but has the cinch-able waist, which sort of gives me a waist. You would need to put on your penis cap to hang out in my jacket πŸ˜‚ (swimmingly) 😊

Temp today was high of 50 F and low of 26 F, so definitely jacket weather...especially since I am now freezing all the time. I am in Northern Nevada at about 4500 feet, 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe. It gets cold here. Not Canada cold though 😳πŸ₯ΆπŸ˜³πŸ₯Ά

Well, duh. I was under the impression Nevada was all deserts and stuff. Obviously my knowledge of U.S. climates leaves much to be desired (apologies to Mr. Tanner, my 10th grade Geography teacher!)

And yeah, u need that jacket more than I do, it was 15C / 59F here yesterday!

Penis Cap. Lololololzzz

Oh gracious! I missed a couple of days & I came back to lots of beauty.

greentealael you look gorgeous. That dress is fabulous on you. I call bell sleeves β€˜so sorry I can’t help with the washing up’ sleeves. Tee hee.

Jake, I bet you were the centre of attention at your reunion. You look so hot ( & so does your girlfriend).

I love your jacket Wishmesmaller beautiful colour too. And congrats on your size 10 jeans. Woo hoo!

You had me at wine & cocktails too bayougirlmrss.

Sophie, your soft pink tree is beautiful. Love your roses too. I think the pants are a bit loose because they are a stretch fabric & have given a bit. I’m hoping they’ll return to their true size when washed. Fingers crossed. I don’t think I’ve seen size 4 (US0) clothing in Aust so I hope I don’t need to drop down to that size. I have a dress & a pair of pants I’m going to have taken in. Straight seams so they should be simple jobs. The dress will have to have the side zip removed but the neckline is big enough to go on without needing too unzip. A few of the pieces I bought last summer are too big but they seem to be the easiest to alter. Sigh.

Mmmm. Looks like I have to lock up my Witchery tops otherwise we’ll start seeing pxts of Sophie & ms.sss in my blouses.

I like Witchery too daisyJayne. They’re the best for pretty tops & blouses that are just that bit different & they go down to size 6 & xxs. Woo hoo.

I love a pair of poo pants or drop crotch pants as they’re more commonly known. Need a better top though as this one’s a bit loose around the bottom.

Had a few lumps & bumps removed from my head, face & neck yesterday (9 things in total) and got white fluff from the cotton blanket they put on me all over the pants - sigh. Put my clothes brush to good use this morning. Oh, just realised you can see my old lady crepey skin arms in this pxt - another sigh.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???Β  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.Β  They don't bother me at all.Β  Help.Β

      1. NickelChip

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?Β
      Β· 1 reply
      1. NickelChip

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but afterΒ 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?
      Β· 3 replies
      1. NickelChip

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.Β
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.Β
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.Β

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautΓ©ed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
