I am new to forums and not very comfortable, so forgive me if I rattle on. It has been 3 weeks since I had my gastric bypass surgery. I have felt great for most of the time but I'm not sure I'm eating enough. I have introduced soft foods into my diet and even had a couple of bites of a meat. I track what I eat using My Fitness Pal and I have my goal set to 800 calories a day. I have my Protein set at 35% (70g), Carbs 30% (60g) and Fat at 45% (31g). Can anyone tell me what my grams or percentages should be in a day? I have been having some discomfort the past few days and I'm not sure if it is due to my diet and introduction to foods or tenderness from getting dry heaves. HELP!

Hi, and Congratulations on your recent surgery! I had gastric bypass 3 months ago, and I think you are eating more than enough calories. I rarely get up to 800 myself. For protien it seems adequate, but you should follow your surgeon's recommendations. When I workout my doctor has suggested a higher Protein amount, but you're probably not working out yet. Focus on hydration and protein and don't worry as much about calories.

Thank you so much for responding. The weight is not coming off as quickly as I thought and especially for as little as I eat. I am constantly very constipated and have to rely on lactulose and suppositories. In six weeks I have only dropped 10 lbs but have lost 11 inches. Any suggestions? Can you tell me what a typical day of eating looks like for you? Are you still on liquid or puree foods?

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
