I lost below 40 BMI but I had comorbidities so I didn't worry as long as I didn't go under 35 BMI

Same here. Once the surgery was approved, it was a "go" even though there was weight loss on the pre-op diet. My insurance (BCBS) did not monitor after the approval.

I am a 35.6 now and my final weigh in tues. I was concerned too and asked my surgeons office the same question. I have bcbs too. They told me as long as i am 35 bmi on final weigh in I am good and not to worry on the liquid diet part it doesnt matter then. Its like a juggeling act.

Usually, once you are approved for WLS, you are in. That was a concern with one of my coworkers as well. However, we both have Kaiser and they told us once you are approved, you can have the surgery even if you want to wait for a year to have it. They will not kick us off the program. It was our choice. They want us to be fully ready for the surgery.

Depends on your insurance requirements and surgeon’s requirements. Make sure you understand both.
Thanks

Thank you all for the question and responses, I was thinking the same thing. I did the liver shrinking diet prior to lapband removal, I have lost and at a 40 BMI. I do have co-morbidities as well. I was wondering as well the what if. I still have 4 more visits w/dietitian. How long after removal of lapband did anyone have the revision to GBP? I was told 3 mths and my doctor has said 6mths. I was hoping to have it done before the year is up d/t paying a very very high co-payment for lap-band removal.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
