Off my diabetes meds, and down to one blood pressure meds, and it's been less than three weeks. I'm hopeful that I'll be off the remaining in a couple of months. I also don't have to get up multiple times a night to use the bathroom... a happy side effect of having stable, normal blood sugars I think.

diabetes, high blood pressure and most important to me, sleep apnea.

i hadn't slept, real sleep, in years. i fell asleep every time i stopped moving and i had huge gaps in memory and was having problems remembering day to day events.

after surgery i slept 16 hrs without cpap machine

i have not fell asleep after getting up in the morning since the surgery.

this surgery was the best thing to happen to me in the last 20 years. It saved my life

5 months post-op sleeve and I no longer have sleep Apnea, I don't take high blood pressure medication anymore, and I no longer have GERD or Acid Reflux.

This is all so encouraging! I can't wait to throw this sleep mask away, I hate it! I would love to get rid of my meds, but most of all lose auto-immune and plantar fasciitis symptoms. They are what I feel have stolen my life. I'm praying for my mobility back.

In the year leading up to my surgery in May 2018 I was diagnosed with COPD by a pulmonologist based on pulmonary function testing. I have always had some seasonal asthma but this was much worse. I could not take a shower or walk across the street without wheezing/shortness of breath. I was placed on 3 daily medications (Breo, Spiriva and Singulair) and still had major issues. I was also treated by a spine physiologist for severe back pain...it was to the point that I actually let this doctor inject my spine on both sides due to the severe pain that occurred anytime I was upright for more than a few minutes. I had to drag a bar stool into the kitchen to cook a meal and my husband was looking into a walker with a seat for me since I could not go anywhere due to the pain. I can honestly say that I thought I would be dead in a year...

Fast forward to today, one year after surgery. I am still working toward my goal but my health and life have improved greatly. I am off ALL COPD/asthma medications with symptoms so rare that I have used my inhaler about 3 or 4 times in the last year. I can do anything I want with no breathing issues. My pulmonologist is AMAZED and he is referring other patients to bariatrics as appropriate. I can do a brisk, 2 1/2 mile walk outdoors with no issues. My back does not hurt AT ALL even if I am up and walking all day. I can easily get on and off the motorcycle that I so enjoy riding with my husband. I have not taken so much as a tylenol in a year since surgery.

I am currently 61 years old with no health issues, no medication other than OTC allergy meds and my MV and Calcium supplements and I feel 10 years younger than I did a year ago. As a nurse practitioner, I would not have believed any of this if I had not experienced it myself. Having this surgery is the best thing that I have ever done for myself.

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
