Bariatric surgery was a big mistake

Recommended Posts

I have had my bypass 1yr & lost 115lbs & at goal weight. I eat everything just small amounts cause small stomach. I ate a hot dog & roll w/ onions last night with fresh cherries. Waiting a 1/2 hr to drink isn’t end of world. I have never been happier! So glad I had it done. July 5th is 1yr...

I had the sleeve on 6/26/19. This day one week ago I still could have backed out up until 3pm! But, I didn’t and now I am living with such horrible regret, shame hate for myself for doing this. Why didn’t I have these doubts before, why didn’t I research more?? I feel the same as you.
Please do yourself a favor and treat yourself kindly over the next 1-2 weeks.

It honestly gets SO MUCH better.

I would do it all over again and again and again because the feeling I have is so absolutely worth it.

It’s kinda like having a baby.
If you are to ask a mother who is in active labor her thoughts on getting pregnant again, her response will be way more negative than the mother of an adorable 6 month old baby

No question--life after surgery is very different than life before surgery. I was as prepared as anyone could be (I first went through the surgery prep process around 2000, then again starting in October), but like most things in life, reality is different than theory. On top of that, while we have similar experiences, we're all different. Depending on how your surgery was done, you can possibly have it reversed, but you're probably not going to be any happier after that than you are now. Therapy can help...if you let it.

Sounds very much like me at the beginning... I was begging for reversal of my opp... but no one obviously did... since then i had everything... ruptured stomach twice... so sewing it back, shaking from anything I put in to my mouth... two months of intermittent feeding, two near death experiences, adaptation and understanding issues... and all this was nothing to do with the surgery... in fact if it wasn’t for this surgery noone would find my disease... now I am 9 months post opp... 8,5 stones lighter... trained my body to accept what I want to eat and enjoy my life... obviously all rehab thing after tumour removal still present but everyday I am getting stronger and stronger... so hopefully soon you will pass that stage as well and will enjoy this decision of having this opp :)

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
