My sleeve still exists. However, GERD is horrible. My current issue is insurance. They're requiring a peer to peer review. This indeed sucks. I have paid for insurance for close to 20 years. I go to the doctor. I didn't ask for GERD. I am in pain every day. When I only drink Water? I am in pain. This sucks! Why the heck is this fair? I am not giving up. I am frustrated and fighting.

Have your GERD and attempts to control it well documented by your surgeon. They will likely take you on as a GERD patient instead of a WLS patient ,unless you have significant regain or insignificant losses.

And so you may beat them at their own game,maybe only 1bariatric surgery but GETD could be considered a gastrointestinal emergency repair. And if so, that's a new one to be covered.

The damage is well noted and diagnosed.
I have damage to my esophagus, stomach lining and a hernia.

The latest, after 4 or 5 test totaling over $50,000? I have severe GERD. Medical treatment is revision. It cost more money to keep testing me then the procedure to fix the issue.
In the states, insurance has gone crazy. Now, I am waiting on a new date. Meanwhile, I am the one in constant pain. I have the best docs ever. My insurance well TBD. Fighting for my health. Make sure you fight for yours.

It really depends on your insurance. They tested me for cancer, GERD, esophagus damage and pH level. For me, the goal is to determine how bad the GERD is and what kind of damage so far

My insurance will not fix my medical issue. I will have go a different way. This will get done. I will update before 1/20/20. I don't have cash.

I have the same due to my sleeve 3 years ago. I go on Monday for my revision for the gastric bypass.

Well you got great insurance. Mine sucks! But mine surgery will get done by the end of the year.

I have GERD as well. Currently being considered for revision from VSG to RNY.

Tests I've done:

• barium contrast/swallow/esophagram test
• CT scan on abdomen and pelvic area
• gastric emptying/egg sandwich study
• upper GI endoscopy (several across the years)

I hope this helps! Definitely take charge and fight for your health. Ask your doctor/insurance for these tests and as tedious as it may be sometimes, keep following up. GERD is not to be taking lightly. It can, God forbid, lead to esophageal cancer, which the last test listed above is really good at showing with images — signs start as scarring of the esophagus (red scorching marks) while ultimately (if not taken care of) can become whitish cancerous cells. I have had GERD for 7 years and always told doctors that if the cause was surgical (never had even episodic heartburn before my VSG), then the solution has to be too, and I'm finally getting somewhere.
