Please help w post op pain

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I’m 2 days post op (sleeve) and it’s really hurting much more than I thought. I know it’s been asked and answered before but I’m so at the end of my rope, I don’t think I can even summon the energy to do a search. I have been able to drink and no temp, BP a little high (probably from anxiety and pain). I just need some reassurance that this is normal.... anyone else have pain for days? PS I’ve taken OxyContin and it just takes the edge off. Thanks in advance

Call your surgeons office. None of us here are qualified to give medical advice.

I had horrific pain and they gave my percocet and hydrocodone. Maybe you should call them, even after hours, to see if they can do something to manage your pain.

Good luck!

Oh, and for some of us, the pain is terrible.

Thanks all. I’ve def been in touch w surgeons office... I guess I was just trying to get a gauge on others experiences. I think if I knew that others also had pain for several days, I would not feel so alone.

2 days post op as well. If your pain is upper chest, it could be the gasses they use from surgery... so walk as much as you can. I had some strongish pain this morning after I tried some jello.. and used GasX which helped.

You've got this!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
