Diabetes gone and now going from hypothyroid to hyperthyroid. So will have to adjust meds. Had surgery April 3 and lost 16 lbs in pre OP and another 32 lbs after surgery.

I had VSG on 8/6/19 (1 month ago! Yay!). I’ve lost 33 lbs just this month (56 since starting dieting pre-surgery). I have PCOS (controlled for a while with meds and now in menopause), but also hypothyroidism and type II diabetic. My fasting sugar on the morning of my surgery was 167 (not my highest, mind you), and it hasn’t been over 100 since my surgery. In fact, it’s been in the 70s a couple times this week and my endocrinologist has just taken me off my nightly synjardy. Just taking it in am until I see him on 9/20. Not on my victoza either. It’s amazing!!!!!!!!!

I am super interested in this too! I have PCOS and hypothyroidism too. My pcp is super laid back which is great for some things but not great for others. I take Levothyroxine for my thyroid and was wondering if my dosage would need to go up or down and how frequently. Anyones experiences would be appreciated.

thanks!

I'm just 3 /?2 weeks out but my sugar has come down, as for the thyroid, I had 1/2 my thyroid removed a few years ago and have been on Levothyroxine/Synthroid for years. As a matter of fact my dosage has gone up several times pre surgery to try and level out my TSH. I met with my endocrinologist the week before my surgery, she said it is very important to have TSH levels checked via blood work after the loss of each 15lb increment. I had blood work again last week and my levels showed I should stay on course with my meds current dosage but again need to check every 15lbs in case dosage needs to be lowered.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
