I had gastric bypass in December, I’m in Vegas this weekend and really want to have a cocktail...Has anyone had a drink 4 months out and if so what kind of drink?? Thank you

I think it'd be okay, but they warn you that your sensitivity to alcohol will be much greater/you'll get drunker quicker, so be careful.

Nothing with bubbles. No soda mixed drink or beer. My personal drink to sip on is vodka and peach schnapps on the rocks. I sip very slowly. You do have to be careful we are lightweights now.

I live in Vegas and, girl, I get it. I had my first sip of alcohol 6 weeks out and was fine. I drink Jameson on the rocks with a lime every now and again. I'll have one "shot" (sipping, not shooting LOL) and sip on that for a few hours. Usually that's all I'll need in a night. Saves on the bar tab and empty calories. Not a huge drinker, but we just vacationed in Ireland and was worried I'd miss out on all the distilleries! I was totally fine (that was 3 months out). The posts above are right, your sensitivity/tolerance will be much different than before. Just take it really slow, you should be fine. Martini's or straight up liquor would probably be your best bet. Try to avoid bubbles and especially sugary drinks like daquaris at all costs! Best of luck and enjoy your trip!

I had bypass December 3 and had my first glass of wine about 2.5 months post op. I was a big drinker before and now get buzzed fairly quickly. I’ve had liquor too, I can tolerate it well with no issue. I go to Vegas a couple of times a year and can’t imagine NOT having a drink 😊

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
