We are not all doomed to regain after 4/5 year out. There is no need for revision if you follow your plan. Many of us have kept the weight off and maintain successfully.

I don't comment that much anymore, but there is so much misinformation in this thread that it needs to be addressed.
A sleeved stomach will never "stretch out" to normal size. Swelling will subside, scar tissue will soften, but stretching out just doesn't happen. It can't. The fundus was removed. However; frequent and constant over eating can weaken the esophageal sphincter and/or the pylorus.
With the esophageal sphincter weakening you would experience frequent heartburn. With the weakened pylorus, food just gets pushed out of the stomach before the bulk of digestion can happen. This leads to a decrease in satiety and more frequent eating.
Either your doctor doesn't know what he is talking about, or he is just telling you something in "layman terms". But that does neither you nor the community any good since it just perpetuates the belief that a sleeve can be stretched.

That's what I thought I read once but wasn't sure thanks for commenting

Four years out from gastric sleeve surgery. Lost 96 lbs. Went back for a check up. Did barium swallow. PA told me that my sleeve had returned to pre op size. Anyone have this problem? I'm trying to get back on track with the diet journal but feeling like a failure. Advise welcome. I was told by the PA that I would need to get bypass now.

I’m sorry to hear you struggle. Regain can beat you down mentally. As you can see on the site, you’re not the only one with a regain or had a revision. Its not easy to get back on track.... its work. But, It can be done.

It's not for me to say if you have stretched your surgery back to full size. That’s between you and your surgeon. You may want to consider counseling before a revision. If you’re eating behavior is not addressed, you may stretch your next surgery.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
