Buying clothe

Recommended Posts

Find a good local place to donate your clothes to. Some people have a hard time getting rid of old items and this will ensure that you’ll have that “feel good” feeling when you say goodbye to your old clothes. I donate them to the school I work for because I know they go directly to students that need them. They aren’t resold somewhere. As for restocking, try goodwill or old navy for “transition” clothes.

Know this song you're singing about no choice where the weight loss starts, my firsts were forearms, face, neck, chest, my Boobs are approaching tube Sox with tennis balls, then rump fat pad Before the actual, side to side measure went down, now thighs and belly, although I fear it never will go flat, too many years and 3 over 9 pounder babies did a evil thing to muscles there. And now I have gone from solid obese bloat to ridges where the fat has dissolved, this is NOT what I thought was meant by " Washboard Abs" think I could srubs stains out there first before doing laundry. Oh well, it is what it is! Still I am becoming half the Woman I once was and twice as thrilled as I thought I could be! Onederland may be not that far ahead, and T *H *A*T is sure something I doubted would ever come. Yeah I told my Bariatric Team it was my desire, but I had failed so many diets at so many diets, I was willing to spout the Company Line nut didn't truly believe glhard work would bring anything but exhaustion m But I had Exhausted all my other options, I was even a Structurelized Starvation failure, made me sick, not thin. You become pretty much a NonBeliever in defense. But from 365+ down to 234.6, it is as much a miracle as this Woman could find. Where will I stop? Dr Needleman's NP Valerie would be satisfied with just sub-200 for me at 73, but deep inside is a little kernal that says " Maybe you can still make it down to 175, maybe you'll make your dream of a 15 Junior!" I mentioned in another thread getting $1 bras and panties on clearance at Wal- Mart, well they are C cups, for my weight I am not excessively busty, many are D, DD or above! I told someone I was talking to I am a Bloated Athletic build, she said the two don't go together, well that's the category I belong in, once the Fat Shell finishes cracking and falls away, the world will see. And,because,i have 2 knee replacements and an ankle that was not adequately repaired I cannot get on my toes to run, but I would like to walk a portion of a marathon before I turn 75. Is that a silly senile dream? Sure hope not!

You certainly can get to 175 just keep pushing and keep up the hard work. Congratulations your story shows it is never to late to conquer what you truly desire.

We’re regular donaters. My grandson lives with us and grows like a weed so we’re always donating outgrown clothes. One difference is I’m thinking about taking my super comfy T-shirt’s (especially the ones from vacays) and making a quilt out of them. A big comfy reminder of my soon to be former, fat self.

Love this idea!

I have been sticking to the clearance section of stores, and thrift stores. I am not going to pay a bunch of money for clothes which will only fit for a little while. My husband (who also had the surgery) has been doing the same thing since he can buy at 'regular' stores now. As far as clothes which no longer fit me goes, I've sold a few things but mostly have been donating. I am sure someone else can find good use out of them.

I've been putting my clothes in the local recycling bins...I can't overthink it or I won't get rid of them. For my big t-shirts, I plan to make them into nightshirts. But I'm still wearing them to the gym. I am looking forward to transitioning from winter clothes to lighter clothes. Not sure what I'll keep because by the time winter comes again, I'm hoping I've made quite a bit of progress and won't need the ones I've got now. I haven't bought anything except for some new bras and leggings for the gym most recently. That's not true, I picked up a couple of items while I was on vacation - but won't be able to use them 'til it warms up a bit more.

I've slowing been going through my "skinnier clothes" that I've kept over the years (in case I lost weight of course!), and piling up the clothes I'm sizing out off on one side of my closet. I'm planning to sell the good items to a thrift shop, and the not-so-good ones are going into the donation bin. I don't want to keep them if only as a symbolic gesture that I will never need them ever again.

As for going through my skinny clothes, they are depleting and there are only size 6's left in my stash, which I can't fit into comfortably yet.

I haven't done any major shopping, just underwear and bras, and SOCKS.

However, I do plan on doing some serious shopping soon as I need some summer clothes and some new shoes (my feet have shrunk 1.5 sizes!)...kinda excited :)

Omg my shoe size has shrunk as well!! I went from a 8.5-9 to a 7-7.5!!!

Donated. Some to shelters, some to my nieces that are in college and gained the "freshman fifteen" and were shopping at thrift shops anyways.

Actually, just the thought of having a new wardrobe is already a great motivation to lose weight. When it's time to buy, either as a reward for hardwork or you really need a good set of clothes, I do some things first such as having new measurements taken as well as have bra fitting. I also go sizes (down from previous size) in the panties/underwear. In buying clothes, I first go for pants, jeans, shorts, then I go for really fitted tops. 😊

To Frustr8: I’d love to get to know you. You’re my kinda gal! I worked for over 10 years fitting mastectomy bras. And yep... saw lots of tube sox titties! And now I get to see my own. Hahaha!
I too want to see 175 or less, but I almost cannot wait to see less than 200. It’s been over 36 years! ( I had 4 over 9 lb pregnancies, and it was with the second that I went over 200. Like I said, I can hardly wait!!!
Always enjoy your posts!

One bittersweet comment: I had a few really nice items that were a few years old, but had gotten too tight. Thought I’d get them out for something “new”. They’re way too big too!
I told myself I’d just wear my clothes like sacks. I didn’t care. But I do. Did get a new Easter dress that fits and shows off a thinner me. Helps the old confidence!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
