Feeling Lostttt

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! 😊

Quick question i hope some of you can answer. After your insurance approves you for bariatric surgery, what are the next steps??

And do they let you do payments on the surgery or does that just depend on your surgeons office?? I feel like this process is taking forever and im trying to be positive. Thank you! 😊

After insurance approves you, you schedule the surgery. Then there are the last-minute tests of chest x-ray and blood typing, blood clotting factors, etc. Then you have surgery. I don't know if there are payment plans or not.

As far as payments, that’s going to depend on your surgeon’s office policies. For reference, mine wouldn’t accept payments. They wanted full payment the Friday before my surgery. Luckily my insurance covered everything so I didn’t owe a penny. Contact your office and they will let you know their expectations.

For the approval process, my office scheduled my surgery a week and half out from when I completed all of my clearances then submitted all the paperwork to my insurance for approval. I had a pre-op class that Friday where I bloodwork done. Got approval from insurance that Monday and had surgery Wednesday. I definitely thought I’d have more time to mentally prepare for surgery. I had no idea that I’d be having surgery 10 days after I completed clearances. Again, this is all very surgeon specific.

yep no payments here either. all my costs were required up front the day of surgery.

My insurance covered some. Afterwards I owed $2000. They sent a bill, but I sent $250 a month until it was paid off.

Call your insurance company. I asked them specifically what the costs would be. $100 for the surgery , $100 for the hospital stay and then an additional charge of the anesthesiologist was out of network, so I called the hospital to get a list of all the possible ones to ensure I was getting one in network. You have to advocate for yourself

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!

      Today was rough...
I've been experiencing a headache all day today that just won't go away. I'm thinking it's now progressing into a migraine. Does anyone else get headaches from taking vitamin B12? I did some research and learned that usually a lack of B12 causes headaches. But I've noticed when I take it, I have reoccurring headaches. 😫
