hi, I had my sleeve on the 15th. I feel like I have done well but now I am where you are and am having terrible reflux in the middle of the night. Does anyone else have the same problem. Just started some soft foods and have been extremely careful on what I am eating. My dietician said that she wants me to consume more calories because I am in a stall on my weight. Are you having any issues with your sleeve surgery? Thanks

Sleeve done on Jan 8th here. Down 28 lb since surgery, and 73 lb total since I started the journey around Aug 1st. Don't regret the decision at all, but have had a few challenges.

Reflux started on day 2 or 3 post-op -- none prior to surgery. Started taking omeprazole OTC and has improved greatly. My surgeon just told me that I could try to stop taking it anytime I wanted, but if reflux continued just to go back on it and try again in a few weeks. The other thing I've learned is not to eat or drink anything at least 30 minutes prior to going to bed.

Thank you for the response. I am going to take the omeprazole etc and hopefully that will help. I don't eat or drink anything within 2 hours of bedtime but it is not progressing like I want it to. I hope this is a passing phase since starting a soft diet. Good luck on your journey.

I had really bad acid reflux for about 3 weeks post-op sleeve (12/11/18) but it has resolved. I also had a stall Weeks 3 and 4 but it has resolved.

My dieticians said that they encouraged me to eat more food because I needed more calories in me to continue to loose. It is a fine line to achieve that without not getting sick. Meal planning is important I have lost a couple more pounds. Good luck.

You feel you should have lost more? When have you ever lost 25lbs in less than 4 weeks? Thats amazing! I was sleeved on the 15th as well and I'm down 21lbs, I'm thrilled! We've got this!

Thank you. You are so right. I really need to stop comparing my progress with a few others that were in my support group prior to surgery. I went to the groups for a few months pre-op and a few ppl had lost 40lbs in 1month post-op. I know everybody's journey will be diff, but i think I got excited and that number kinda stuck in my head as a target goal. I jst came back from working out at the gym trying to boost my mood and the scale said I lost a couple more pounds, making it 27lbs total, but I have decided that Im going to stop focusing so much on the pounds and inches. My emotions have been all over the place 2day. But, Yes..we've most certainly got this!!

I got one of those scales that will tell you everything about your body. I love seeing my muscle mass going up, and my bmi going down. Seeing the number go down in the amount of fat in my body is great too! I try not to concern myself with weight. I'd love to see the scale say 20% body fat! Get you one of those scales! So much better for my mental health. Especially during a stall. My weight may not move during one of my stalls but muscle always goes up and fat goes down. Thus I've learned by body doesn't stall at all.

Ahhh, great idea! Having that kind of scale would def be a good motivator. Thanks for the tip!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
